Was traveling through the area and chose this property due to its history and surroundings. It did not disappoint. The wildlife, the trails, the house, the history all made for a great stay.
My wife and I loved our stay at this ranchland getaway in the Texas hill country. It is a beautiful setting away from traffic and city lights. We have already schedule a trip back!

Weekend getaway
I was a little disappointed with the length of time to get to town, based on the listing. It was closer to 45-50 minutes to get into towns rather than 37 minutes
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here, it was just the escape we needed. The house was amazing and we really loved everything about it, especially remoteness. Ashley was an amazing host and we hope to be back soon!!
Gig Em!!
Beautiful property and place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wildlife galore and super secluded yet not too far from town. We would definitely come back.
We stayed here with our family of 4 to kick off our summer. We love the Hill Country and enjoy staying in rural properties. This is a fantastic location and lovely property. Look forward to returning.
We stayed during spring break with our two boys. We really enjoyed the views at the property, watching wildlife and the peacefulness. The house had everything we needed. Ashley was easy to reach with any questions.
My husband reserved this property for my 40th bday. It was exceptional in every aspect! The property was beautiful and SUPER secluded which we love. There was abundant wildlife everywhere. Would 10/10 recommend it to anyone who loves seclusion but also likes having all the amenities. Also the hot tub was perfect!

Our 10th anniversary
My husband was looking for something very secluded to surprise me on our 10th anniversary. When we arrived it was absolutely beautiful. The sunsets were gorgeous. When it came to the of our stay it was very hard to leave. We will definitely go back . Thanks for sharing your beautiful home it was an awesome anniversary .
Cozy place, definitely off the beaten path. We were looking for a comfy hill country getaway and found it. One detail that wasn’t obvious to me from the listing is that the loft sleeping area and master bedroom are adjacent upstairs. Not an issue for us, but one something not totally clear from the posting. We definitely enjoyed our week out at the ranch and, while there, did make it out to both Enchanted Rock and Fredericksburg.
This property is amazing. Just know that it is way, way secluded. Like 15 minutes from a highway that is 20 minutes from a town. To us, that was a plus. The cabin is awesome. It sits at the bottom of a Texas mountain (okay, probably a hill, but in Texas, that is a mountain). It has a fire pit and a hot tub outside. Inside, was super clean. From other reviews, my wife was a little worried about scorpions, but we did not see any - to her delight. The place was clean. The beds were decent - two kings and a twin. You probably want to bring your own pillow which we did, but the ones there were pretty flat. The water pressure is not great, but when you are on a well that is pretty common. The washing machine did not work or maybe it is set up not to work with guests. We were just going to wash our sheets and towels on our way out.
We did run into the owner of the property when we got there and he reminded us of Tim McGraw (maybe it was him). Super nice and friendly.
Part of me wants to tell you not to stay here so it will be available to us next time, but we give it a 10/10. We are definitely coming back, often!
We arrived at about 8PM on the first night and killed 4 scorpions on the main level within the first hour. Once we finished unloading, we checked the beds upstairs and found a live scorpion in one of the beds. We decided to pack up and head home and we let the owner know that we wouldn't be staying with that many scorpions. Owner apologized multiple times and acknowledged that the scorpions were very bad this time of year and despite spraying quarterly, the scorpions still try to get in because it is a rock house. I asked the owner if we would be able to recover what we spent and she texted back "Yes of course, I'm so sorry". Fast forward a couple of weeks and we notice that several hundred hasn't been refunded. Reached back out to the owner and was told she needed to keep a substantial amount of the rental, the VRBO fee, and the cleaning fee because "this is a business" and "Over the 5 years of renters I've never had a complaint about scorpions so kinda hard to believe there were 5 scorpions in the house and the beds" (check review from Sept 2017). She also said that she thought what she did refund was "pretty generous".
I get it, the house in on a ranch we should have been tougher and just dealt with the scorpions, but with 5 year old and 3 year old daughters, it just wasn't going to happen. At the end of the day, we stayed 2 hours, it cost us several hundred dollars, and the owner accused us of lying. It's a beautiful place - just watch where you step and check the beds before you hop in. Also - and we learned this the hard way - take pictures of the scorpions before killing them.
Amazing spot. Super secluded. Great House. Had a problem getting the hot tub to heat. Sent the property manager a message and never got a response. So we never got the hot tub to heat properly. Other than that we would gladly stay here again. We really loved it.
We chose this place after reading the reviews and buying into the the picture Ashley painted of this place. There are too many other options in this area to risk it, in my opinion and here is why:
Unfortunately for us, we drove into a construction site; which included bulldozers, 18 wheelers and a huge dust cloud. According to Ashley, she cannot stop mother nature which pushed back this project they were working on by 5 days. I totally agree...except for, she could have communicated those details to us and given us a chance to move our trip. For the first day, we hid inside from the dust cloud and construction noises only to be told by Ashley's father that the crew would be back before 7:00AM on the Monday that Ashley allowed us to extend to without telling us about this project. Her father asked the crew to not come back on Saturday/Sunday after we asked him if that was an option. This "project" was only 30 or so feet away from the front door of the cabin.
The cabin is cute but it wasn't clean. There was mouse dropping all over the clean towels, the counters, on top of the fridge, coffee grinds still in the pot, so much animal scat on the back steps that we could not use the back door and the garbage disposal wasn't working but my boyfriend took the time to fix that. I tried to have a conversation with Ashley but she only responded to tell me that she could not control mother nature and wanted to know what wasn't clean and then she went MIA on me. Pick a different place!
