Upon arrival, the front desk staff were indifferent and unwelcoming—offering no assistance with luggage, which is surprising for a property of this caliber. Our room was dusty with a clogged shower that should have been addressed before our arrival. Small details like these matter, especially when a hotel presents itself as part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux network. "Just back from a visit to Idar-Oberstein. Parking was easy, I arrived after 10pm so reception was closed but a staff member was able to quickly get me checked in. Room was perfect for my stay. Hotel is close to the Felsenkirche and castles. The Norma shop is 2 minutes walk away and there are several places to eat in the square."
