first time at this place, and definitely won't be my last!
beautiful pub, lovely staff,
and only regret is that (this time!) my early morning work meant I couldn't take advantage of their excellent looking breakfast options....
Great pub with rooms. Chris the owner was so accommodating and helpful. Fantastic full English breakfast, comfortable big rooms and located by the harbour. Great range of ales as well. Would highly recommend.
Excellent pub with super comfy beds and great food. Breakfast was beautifully cooked with lovely locally smoked kippers. Evening meal was also superb. Staff all very accommodating and very friendly. Excellent Adnams ale. Don't pay to park opposite as you will be given a resident voucher to park for free by the landlord. Only minor downside was that there was a bath rather than a shower. I would definitely stay there again.

Property a little tired but very comfortable and clean.Chef excellent.Obliged with eatly breakfast and could not have been more helpful.
A great advertisement for venue.
Lovely old pub, chosen as a 75th birthday stay after river cruise.. no broadside on tap, broadside bottles were out of date … (broadside on pump is birthday boy’s favourite) ..“landlady” rather abrupt.. no meals being served, kitchen closed … that said, room was fab, spacious and clean .. bed and bedding really nice… 5 🌟 given for sleep and a wonderful breakfast & breakfast gentleman was a star & very courteous.

The room was small and poky, which for an old building is perhaps to be expected. Bed was comfy, bathroom was ok (bath only, no shower). Biggest problem was the cold - I was there in November and it was very cold outside, trouble was it was very cold in the room too, uncomfortably so. I was the only guest, there was one radiator in the room and one in the bathroom but both were woefully inadequate. Insulation is a challenge in old buildings I'm sure but more heat is needed, maybe an electric heater or similar as it really was bloody cold. Downstairs in the bar it was OK, with a log fire in the evenings. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was fine.
Traditional old pub in fine location with authentic interior and great garden bar. Welcomed by friendly young man who was helpful throughout our stay. Great breakfast with good choice.
So pleased I found this little gem. Lovely team of people, so cheerful, friendly, hardy, and welcoming, they obviously loved their jobs. My room felt fresh, was tastefully decorated, with a spacious en-suite, super comfortable king sized bed, and stable doors that opened out to a couple of steps down to my own terrace area.
I wish I was staying longer.
