"I stayed in Solingen as I was seeing a performance of Tanztheater Wuppertal; hotels in Solingen are more reasonable than those in Wuppertal. It's about 20 minutes away, and I figured it was worth the savings. What I did not expect was how beautiful and charming Solingen would be. This hotel is split into several properties - my room was in up the street from the lobby about half a block. While the room was not up-to-the-minute modern, it was spacious and comfortable, with a mini fridge and an electric teakettle. Upon checking in the fellow behind the desk gave me an enormous, complimentary tube of Colgate toothpaste. One thing to know is that there was no elevator in the property where I was staying, so I had to lug my luggage up two flights of stairs. It wasn't a problem for me, but those with mobility issues will have a hard time navigating this. It would be worth asking to see if the hotel has accessible rooms, perhaps in the main part of the hotel? The drive from Solingen to Wuppertal was very nice - I'd been to Wuppertal before but hadn't seen the lovely part of it until this trip. I highly recommend this hotel, and spending some time in this beautiful little town."
