It was clear that a lot of thought has been given to making Ashbys a unique place to stay: welcoming, relaxing and fun. A great location too for the bars, seafront and Southsea attractions! Our bathroom window needed a blind - more for the neighbours than anything! - and the bedroom a second bedside table...

"The hotel looked a wuite run down from the outside, but the inside was clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, towels and shower gel. It was literally a 3 minute walk to the beach so a great location."

"Heather was an amazing host; a lovely lady who made you feel very welcome from arrival until departure. Breakfast, although continental had a very wide range of choice. Menu's were available to order a takeaway which we did on arrival. Safe parking is available at the property, along with ironing facilities. Yes, the building is worn and dated and could benefit from some repairs and decoration, but if you're just doing a quick visit which we were, this is a great choice."

Chaston Manor Hotel is very comfortable, superb service at check in, high level of cleanliness and the highlight - a superb breakfast (just what you need to get started). Very well located and will highly recommend it."

"A really lovely little place to stay. The room was spacious and the bed super comfortable. Having kitchen facilities to use is a bonus although we didn’t use them. The shower wasn’t great (rain head only) and I really struggled to work it. It would also be great to have a mirror in the bedroom area for getting ready as the only mirror was in the bathroom. "

"The hotel was exceptional. Location was fantastic - very near to bus stop, walking distance to the beach, a convenience store is nearby, there is a lovely restaurant within walking distance. The hotel itself was absolutely lovely - clean, cosy, comfortable. Just perfect. Wendy & Steve was the best. Would definitely come back. If anything, just one thing to be aware of - you need to up one flight of stairs to get to the bedrooms."

"Room was a little tired but overall okay. Minor issues like ripped wallpaper etc. My only issue was the fact the latch was slightly damaged on the inside so I had no way to properly lock the door. I had to put the chain on and shove a doorstop under the door, as a solo female traveller this made me a little uncomfortable. Walls are very thin so be aware if you’re a light sleeper. "Home from home with fantastic grounds lots to do for all ages. Swimming pool was amazing the whole family spent hours outside and the teenagers weren't on their phones. We will be back next year hopefully"

"Lovely place but dreadful if you need to communicate while on vacation. We found some very dirty kitchen items and many broken this & that's. Kitchen lamp not working, bedside light buzzing all night, showers need descaling as do not work properly. Etc ..... could do with a proper check over and upgrade. Also, please don't say you have wifi in here on your advert .... it is intermittent at best so be honest and your customers may not feel cheated into choice as we do ....."
