Very quiet and comfortable room. Thoughtful amenities, easy walk to train and center, nice high street and nearby park. Would stay again, for sure.

Our stay at Diamonds Guest House in York was absolutely amazing! It was our family’s first time visiting York, and the whole experience was truly memorable. The guest house was spotless, tidy, and very comfortable. The location was perfect and easy to find, plus it’s just a short drive to the town centre, which made exploring York super convenient. The price was very affordable too, so it’s great value for money. The staff were so friendly and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We loved every bit of our stay and can’t wait to come back again. Definitely recommend Diamonds Guest House to anyone visiting York!
Had a fantastic nights stay at this guesthouse and already looking at booking again. Room was great, tea and coffee making facilities along with shower gel, shampoo and plenty of towels. Check in was easy…just one phone call and code was given to gain entry to property. Can’t wait to visit again.
Spacious room, very clean. Beds very comfortable. Lots of storage space. En-suite spotless. Tea and coffee very welcome, as were toiletries in bathroom, (shower gel, shampoo & conditioner). Hairdryer supplied as well. Would recommend.
Check in was quick and efficient staff helpful and polite. Room was serviceable but a little tired and basic. Easy walk to York city centre and pubs close by for eating etc

Family trip in York
Nice accommodation in York in residential area, far from train station but nice walking along the old city walls. Hotel check in via phone but everything in easy mode. Room is nice and tidy, comfortable beds and room conditions except the shower facilities, some minor issues on the shower head holder but not affecting our stay. It is recommended if you don’t mind walking about 20mins from station.
There's hardly any reference to parking space!!!!...I drove 6 hours through heavy congestion and found a place in the Guest Houses' designated space and then discovered that guests have to pay for that..and as nobody was around on site to ask how to pay was unsure if i would get a fine..so I found myself creeping out at 3.45 a.m. to put my car in a free overnight car park not 5 minutes walk from the place!!! Very bad!!! Also, checking in at 7.45pm there was nobody there to let me in and I panicked as I had to wait 5 minutes for a reply...but the woman was very kind and explained how to get in etc. The room was lovely and clean and there was plenty of tea and coffee to drink. There should be a plug next to the bed to charge the phone too. Shower was excellent! Bed was excellent too!
Would have been much better if some sort of breakfast was on offer. No reason was given for not allowing alcohol. Room basic but tidy, reasonably well situated.
Very nice stay, ideal location, walking distance into town. Lots of nearby restaurants. Comfortable bed, only negative was the shower is particularly feeble and needs a shower pump.
Great two nights stay at Diamond Guesthouse on Bishopthorpe road. Located in a nice part of York, and very close to the centre of the city.
Would definitely recommend it, especially for a family looking for a budget weekend break.
Family run venue close to nice cafes and bars on Bishopthorpe Road. Good value for money, even at times of the year when some venues put their prices extortionately.
Nice, comfortable room.
Check-in was easy enough, although it would probably make things easier if the access codes were emailed on the day of entry.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Location OK However the property has rules that are unacceptible such as no food to be consumed in the room
no breakfast or food is served by the hotel
Last night the owners held a family gathering which became progressively more boisterois and the singing louder especially after 2AM I objected and the noise gradually abated thru to 2.30 AM as I had an early start!!

Ok. Stayed in better, stayed in worse. It’s an old building so it feels like it needs a refurb but limited in what you can do without spending mega bucks! Self checkin was ok. Not happy had to pay £7pn for parking. Owner helpful over phone
Took me 20 mins to get into the property . Paid for parking and I am still waiting on a receipt

I couldn't fault the guest house on it's service, location and the room, although I was disappointed with two things.
Firstly, the check in. As I was checking in late, the hosts had been really kind and contacted me, who then provided me the self-check in codes. Upon checking in, I can then use an electronic card to replace the codes when entering the guest house and my room.
The code provided didn't work. Luckily two guests came back at the same time when I was locked out outside and on the phone with the host, who kindly helped me and ensured I got to my room. I then went back out to get food. On return, the electronic card did not work. Called the host again, who then provided the electronic code for the entrance again. That's when we found that the code provided earlier was incorrect. There was a later message to my phone to say the code was incorrect though. So overall, I had a card which did not function properly.
When I finally got to bed, there was a constant noise coming from somewhere within the building. It was like a boiler or generator kind of motor engine sound. Even with my ear plugs on (which a guest shouldn't be wearing these to sleep), I was still able to hear it. It was still on when I left next morning. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well.
The lack of parking was mentioned on booking. The hosts allow guests to park on their designated parking space at a cost. Considering the parking fees elsewhere in city centre, it's only reasonable.
