Nice hotel but I really think for the price that drinking water should be provided free in rooms. Also my bathroom floor didn’t look to have been cleaned well between guests. That said, I managed to park right outside and it wasn’t far to walk into the city, maybe 20 minutes.

Beautiful hotel, very good customer service. Only downside was the breakfast. We were charged £17 per person for a pretty lacklustre offering. My husband requested pancakes which were on the menu for an additional £2.50, so we were expecting a spectacular stack as a result; what he got was a couple of shop bought small pancakes to go with a very dry sausage and one rasher of bacon. Given that everything else was top-notch in the hotel, we feel they should perhaps review their breakfast and invest in some local specialities for the price charged - and definitely not charge extra for a couple of floppy pancakes.

Great experience. The building is quaint, cozy, with a unique design and interior decoration. Beautiful dining area and bar. The room (ground floor), was spacious and with a lovely art deco interior. Very nice shower with good water pressure, nice choice of shower gels and other amenities. The plumbing in the toilet was a bit iffy, but nothing too serious. Very comfortable bed, with soft pillows (this is my preference so I was happy with it). The building is very old, so the rooms can get a bit noisy (can hear other people flushing the toilet and walking around). Not particularly bothersome for me. Location is good, close enough to the train station and bus. Albeit a little dark and poorly lit. We had the full English breakfast and was very good (especially for hotel standards). Fairly priced too. The staff was nice enough, though not the most enthusiastic but definitely polite and cordial. Would recommend for a nice stay.

Hotel was a great location, clean and warm and all the staff bar our initial welcome by a receptionist was first class ( we did not see that receptionist again - cold, abrupt and not bothered) but everyone else was amazing. The peacock bar was lovely and a nice twist on major cocktails with a Yorkshire twist and the breakfast was so nice, great staff and freshly cooked food nothing too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

Room ok staff ok but slow to serve at bar area and restaurant as always seem to go missing staff with long her should have it tied back or up for h/s reasons were food being served chef needs to learn how to cook a steak properly as mine was charcoaled and breakfast poached eggs done in to much vinegar meal menu needs updating and staff need to learn how to set cutlery for meal as handling steak knife by blade and giving it to customer not very professional or hygienic other than that had a pleasant stay
