Very friendly host. Place was lovely and great Christmas decorations! Internet was a little patchy but my wife loved that! Kept the kids off their phones!
We all had an amazing stay. The property was incredible, so much history that was explained in all the rooms. The pool was brilliant and a lovely size. The walks around the estate were great, we all loved the horses. I can’t speak highly enough of this place. We hope to return.
Lovely house, great living room for everyone to get together and very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Nice private garden as well as the huge grounds of the estate.
My whole family enjoyed their stay. The pool was a big hit, as was the tennis court, and croquet lawn. Facilities were excellent, friendly owners who went above and beyond our expectations. Would highly recommend and plan on another visit.
A wonderful weekend, the perfect house, spacious, well equipped, spotless, and a lovely welcome basket of goodies and a birthday balloon-so thoughtful.
Perfectly situated for a quiet weekend and easy access to York and local tourist spots. We had a lovely time, thank you.

We had such a lovely two days celebrating birthdays. The house is beautiful and so are the grounds. We had everything we needed. I have given a good for the area because we could not use the pool.
10 members from 2 families had a wonderful half term break . The accommodation was very spacious as was the outside area with a heated swimming pool ,tennis court and croquet lawn and garden area .It was the perfect place to explore the surrounding area and then come back for us all to play tennis or have a swim . We were all able to relax helped by the lovely gardens . Thank you .
Just stayed for a week in August and had a great time. The house is very nice inside with good size rooms and bathrooms. In a lovely quiet spot which is great for walks. There is also the use of a good size pool. Good location to visit the surroundings areas in Yorkshire.
The owners were also very helpful and assisted us with all our queries.
Recommend.
Lovely spacious property. The surroundings are so peaceful. We loved having the horses all around.
The croquet and the swimming pool were great and so good to have them on site. Really close to York and lots of things to do.
The hosts were very quick to answer questions, show us where we could play football and cricket and provide us with things we needed for the house. Overall very happy with our experience
Prince Rupert House is just an amazing propety.
We thoroughly enjoyed our special family holiday together, and our newly born grandson arrived in time to join us too! Our grandchildren, aged 19mths to 7, loved the space for running around, secure garden for us, outdoor swimming pool used every day, great fun and such a relaxng time for us all. We hired a hot tub and so pleased we did for our stay.
The house was perfect in every way, and so was our family holuday.
Prince Rupert House is a very beautiful house on a country estate. It has an outdoor pool which our grandchildren loved. Also croquet, tennis court and lots of walks. We had no issues with the house … it slept 10 comfortably and would accommodate 12. Great place to go and relax. 25 minutes from York and 30 minutes from Harrogate. All in all a lovely time together as a family. No complains at all. I can heartily recommended this place. They also have smaller properties too.
Had an amazing few days at the house
Log fire
Beautiful spotless bedrooms
Lovely lounge and a downstairs bedroom for my relative
Plenty of showers and baths
My daughter left her silver ring in bathroom
It was promptly posted back to me.
After a phone call from the host to tell me it waa found
A really lovely house. Extremely well equipped- it had everything we needed. The pool, croquet and tennis were great too. Super comfy beds, really great kitchen - had everything we needed for catering for a large group. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise.
Fabulous stay at the Prince Rupert House. Lovely location great house very well equipped and very clean.
Had a great stay would definitely return really good for our group as the property is very spacious.
Thank you 😁😁
Perfect house for our large family group of mixed ages. Great position for access to York and to enjoy the peace of the countryside around. The hosts are very helpful and responsive.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Prince Rupert House. It is a spacious and elegant property suitable for a large group, with a well-equipped kitchen and everyting we needed.
Stayed for 3 nights, magnificent property, lovely location, extremely comfortable beds and en suite facilities, kitchen very well equipped. Suited everyone from my 2 year old grandson to my 85 year old mum.
Enjoyed the spacious house and the amenities , the kids and younger adults enjoyed the pool although it was only 18 deg outside and a bit windy, good list of local eateries all were good. Away from all the hustle and bustle of the city but also only 10-15 minutes car drive away. Park and ride close by also. Enjoyed our family get together.
Weekend away for friends 50th Birthday Celebrations
We had a fab weekend staying in Prince Rupert House all 11 of us for our friends 50th Birthday,Nothing was too much bother for the hosts, house was absolutely amazing, rooms immaculate, and beds so comfy. The Swimming pool was an added bonus especially as the had glorious weather, only downside was we had to come home, definitely recommend this property 100%.
We had a family get together for Christmas at Prince Rupert House and had a fabulous time.
The house is a real treasure, set in a wonderful location. The rooms are all lovely and spacious. The kitchen very well appointed which was important as we were doing our Christmas dinner for 10 people. The dining room was lovely and easily would sit 12 people with ample room.
We will definitely consdier another stay.
Wonderful property. Spacious and comfortablewith excellent facilities. Extremly well equiped even the barbaque is very big. The swimming pool is fantasic with a good shallow end and a very good size for a proper swim. Property owners lovely and quick respond to any quires. It is in some senses remote although close to York and surroung areas.
The experience at Rupert house was amazing from start to finish! From the welcome basket to the communication with the host and then back to the cleanliness of the property. It’s set in an idyllic bit of land filled with horses, a croquet lawn, grass tennis courts and an outdoor swimming pool with fields for miles, all of which is readily available to you with all the equipment. The garden to the side of the house is also stunning with plenty of seats for everyone and such a sun trap for the majority of the day (literally 8am - 7pm). York is only a stones through away if you fancy a wonder round the town but that’s not something we needed! None of this compares to how well we were treated by all around us! Consistently helpful and a pleasure to stay with. Would 100% book again and hopefully we will.
Thanks again Lucy! You’re a wonderful host
We loved the history and location of Prince Rupert House. It is warm and comfortable, has all modern essentials, and yet still retains its historical context. Lovely!
Stayed with 10 friends on a stag weekend.
The property and grounds are beautiful and steeped in history. A bit out of the way, but if you have a car, it's not too far to get into York and see the sights. Amazing for stargazing on a clear night. The hosts were incredibly kind, welcoming and accommodating.
Nice comfy beds. Showering in the bath took a bit of getting used to but we managed!
A note for any disabled guests: there is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor but there is a step to get into the shower and there are no handrails. This ended up not mattering to us as the member of our party who used a wheelchair was unable to make it.
Overall, a lovely weekend. Thank you!
