The Location was good for the Xmas markets 15 mins walk. There was parking at the hotel and the staff were very helpful. The beds were comfy and very clean. Breakfast was excellent, would stay there again if we go to York.

This hotel is very conveniently located right next to York Barbican. I had an event there so this hotel was a great choice. The staff were prompt and friendly, and explained everything well. The property is very secure with the gate locked and a code required to unlock and access the building. I felt very safe! Everyone staying at the hotel was considerate and quiet. I tried to keep as quiet as possible when returning, as my event didn’t end until 1am. I love that the property is also a pub, although I unfortunately didn’t have time to get a drink here due to having alternate plans. The room is bright and very clean, as is the bathroom! There’s a TV, kettle and some tea and biscuits available in the room. The only con I would mention is that my room was a little noisy due to the traffic outside. There was also a strange rattling outside of the window, maybe caused by wind. I did also struggle with the lock to my room but luckily had friends who were able to help me out before they left to go home. Overall, I was happy with my stay and would definitely return :)

Great location to access the city/uni on foot. The landlord couldn't have been more helpful, great service. The room was great for our purposes, just for one night, nothing fancy but good value and a bonus to have free parking and leave the car there the next day.

Noisy due to the bar and no sound proofing between rooms/landing. The room was lit all night from the emergency exit light, i get this is a requirement but never seen it almost directly above the bed before.

Avoid!

Sub standard, very poor decor, not cleaned to expected standard. Poor facilities and no one who could authorise on site. Not even a request for extra pillows. After serious consideration we changed our plans and decided not to stay and drove home after seeing our show. Manageress was not available until after we had left and have emailed our complaint as instructed. She agreed to refund the breakfast costs which we pre paid on booking in but was very defensive otherwise. Not satisfied but cannot be bothered to push for full refund. Will not recommend and will definitely not visit again. Oh and we would not have returned a full pint if there was nothing wrong with it. Customer service is sadly lacking these days .

This is a gem of a place for visiting the York Barbican, free car parking, a nice lovely room, absolutely lovely welcome and a warm atmosphere from the staff, breakfast is amazing, honestly I will stay here again and i would recommend. We had an evening meal here also, and it was excellent, proper Home Cooking, excellent thank you to the staff, if you read this...thank you

The show didnt appera to have been cleaned from previous occupant The traffic was noisy as the room was on the corner of the hoten No 5 also below where a set of traffic lights no double glazing on the window so noisy from the traffic particularily lorry traffic . also avoid nights when there is a band playing bery very loud and contines to 11 pm (Not recommended) only stayed one night instead of 2 due to noise from band and traffic

Location location, on a Saturday night live music, so very very loud in bedroom, room very bright which could course some people unable to sleep due to a big green escape light, slight road noise, but did have a good night sleep, could do with extra pillows, as had to use bath towels underneath .Free car parking on premises which was a big bonus .

I arrived too early for check in but the staff were able to hold my bag for me before I checked in. Car Park was great for me and easy to park in. The heater in the room was a great accessory for me personal due to my trainers getting ripped out and about. There was a creaking floorboard outside my rom so when I heard people coming in from a night out that woke me, but able to get straight back to sleep.
