Absolutely lovely little cottage in the most quiet location, once Judy had shown us around the cottage we were left alone to come and go as we pleased, the cottage is faultlessly clean with everything you need,it is so peaceful I had the best sleep id had in years
Highly recommend and we will definitely be using this again as our son is at university in York and it's close enough to pop in and out of the city

We really our stay with lovely local walks, the cottage was well equiped and close to many places of interest. Judith made us feel very welcome and ensured we had all we needed. Our dog Inca enjoyed her morning walks with Brutus, he is lovely and friendly and we enjoyed his company. A restful and well equiped cottage and we will return. M and M Bedford.

We managed to get lost so arrived very late but Judy was very welcoming. The farm is lovely with a beautiful garden lots of chicks and three friendly dogs. One of whom Brutus Maximus came for a walk with us and our dogs. It is about 25-30 mins from York and the University. Definitely recommended as a base for York and the countryside of the East Riding.

You'll find these pretty cottages nestled down long country lanes within the picturesque village of Thorganby. They are perfectly situated for a country 'get away from it all' break and are within a short car ride from Central York and York races. There are not enough superlatives to tell you how excellent, first-rate, fantastic these cottages and, if preferred B&B are. Judy, the proud and equally excellent owner, has a great eye for detail. The cottages feel cosy yet spacious and are equipped with everything you can possibly need. We love the cracking log fire in the out of season months and in summer we sit with a glass of wine in our private, bunting strung meticulously kept private garden. If preferred, you can sit out on the large lawn a facing area hedged with flowers and complete with BBQ. If I could, I'd buy them! which just about says it all.

The property is well equipped and the owner made us very welcome. The cottage in which we stayed is a converted single storey barn which was very comfortable for our family.
Our cottage had its own private garden where we could sit out in the evening when the weather was nice. The kids could play on the large grassed area next to the cottage, or if we wanted to stretch our legs we could walk down the country lanes and local footpaths. One day we watched a herd of around 20 Roe Deer making their way along the edge of a local wood.
It was so nice to be able to sit outside the cottage watching and listening to the sounds of nature. The absence of road traffic noise was absolutely fantastic, allowing us to have a really quiet and excellent break. We were also able to visit York and its many attractions and would recommend Thorganby Farm Cottages as a perfect location to stay.

We spent 6 days in Celandine with our 2 children and the place was peaceful. It is located in the countryside with a few animals that amused our older child. The place is lovely and the cottage is very well furnished. But what we appreciated more is the kindness of Judy who helped us every day and with every request. Well located to visit all Yorkshire.

Thorganby Farm Cottages are located at a quiet road close to a little village with a pub, but still only a few miles away from York. The wide views from the cottage and nice garden are magnificent!
Last visit was our second and this time we stayed in Celandine (first time in Curlew). The cottages are convenient, clean and have everything you need at a good standard. Perfect for two persons for both a short break and longer holiday. Next time we hope to ‘experience’ the newly built 2 bed roomed De Lux cottage.
We would like to thank the owner Judy for her hospitality; she and her lovely two dogs give an extra positive dimension to you stay.

We have just returned from 3 nights at the property & loved it
We were met by Judy , The Owner & her 2 friendly dogs , we couldn't have been made more welcome. The location is so peaceful & really is a true get away from it all without being too far from York itself.
The property is very comfortable with a lovely self contained private garden , lovely to sit out & enjoy a bottle of wine after a hard days sight seeing.
Will definitely recommend to all our family & friends
Thank you Judy for a real restful , well needed break away

We had the pleasure of staying at Celandine Cottage during Christmas and New Year, leaving on New Year's Day. We had suffered a distressing family event on the day we were due at the cottage and decided we should still go to escape, but we arrived later than planned. We were welcomed by Barbara (the owner's sister) who showed us to the cottage, explained everything we needed to know and looked after us while we were there. We hadn't had time to think about food shopping but there was milk, tea, coffee and some home-made scones which were all we needed. We loved the cottage from the minute we arrived and knew it would provide the peace that we needed, whilst having the option to go into nearby York or Selby, which we did a few days later. The location of the farm is rural and peaceful but everything you need is just a short drive away. The cottage was very clean, cosy and comfortable and gave us an ideal place for what we provides everything you'll need for your stay. We found the bedroom warm and cosy. The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. Kitchen is well equipped. Bathroom is a wet room but it had everything we needed. It was a little cool at times although the heating was on but it was the end of December so not a surprise. We had planned to get out for walks but didn't on this occasion although would do if we go back. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Celandine. No complaints at all. Just what we needed.

A perfect spot for our short Easter break with two young children (4 and 6 years old). A very peaceful spot with a lovely pub which welcomes kids nearby and plenty of space for them to run around in. 20 minutes in to York where we spent the most time exploring. The property itself was warm and cosy and had everything we required in it when we arrived (including some Easter treats from the owner).

My husband and I spent 5 days at Celadine Cottage last May. We were warmly received by Judy. Thorganby is a lovely village - with easy access to York, Beverley, Howden and other points of interest. We even went to Whitby for a day and had lunch at the Magpie. We were researching ancestors in the area and the Beverley Treasure House was packed with useful information for us. We had a great time visiting York, but find that we must come back as there is so much of interest that it needs more exploration.
The cottage is a very comfortable place to stay - with every convenience. It is a welcoming place to "come home to" after a busy day of sightseeing. We will be back!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights over the new year and had a wonderful time. Lovely accommodation in Curlew cottage with a nice log fire and the most amazing shower ever. Beats some of the London hotels we have stayed in hands down! Cottage was clean and Judy was very accommodating, helpful and friendly. Would stay here again and recommend to others.

We were there in august 2012 with our two kids and we spent two weeks. The time we spent in the cottage was lovely, we really enjoyed it very much. Jude and his family and frieds were ready to help us all the time and we enjoyed the time we spent together and the biers we drank too. The cottage was confortable, clean and lovely. My whole family remembers the holiday in York as a wonderfull experience and we of course would like to come back to the same place.

We had such a good time when we stayed in this lovely cottage. The cottage is very well designed and furnished and really comfortable and is in a beautiful country setting but with ready access to York and all the other attractions of Yorkshire - we had trips to the coast and to York. The local area is great too - we went to the Thorganby festival and also to a lovely park in Pocklington. Judy is a great host and is very knowledgeable about places to go and things to see and there's lots of info in the cottage. We liked our patio too and also the lawns and the gorgeous herbaceous border. We will stay again and would recommend it to anyone
