Casafuerte is all about the ambiance, friendliness, & top notch service. Breakfast was over the top & plentiful & our 2 dinners in the restaurant were outstanding. Sea Bass for two, asparagus stuffed with pickled quail….two menu items you must try but all is great. We were treated to taste the families own wine, a blend of 90% Tempranillo & 10% Viura & it was delicious…Daniel is quite passionate about the family “hobby”. Zarraton is a sleepy village but not far to travel through rolling hills of the Rioja to explore, taste great wine, and enjoy the historical significance of the area. Our room was clean & comfortable. The staff were all about service! There are many spots to sit enjoy a book or sip a nice glass of wine. We got a special tour of the family winery and the caves and absorb the passion they put into it. Hoping to return to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Muchas Gracias!

Very nice family run hotel, with old world charm. Really enjoyed exploring the local villages and wine culture. Restaurant and breakfast at the hotel were exceptional.
Such a nice hotel, family running the hotel, breakfast, room, parking outside, the house itself etc!!!! Our stay and hotel could not have bern better. We will definitely stay here again when we visit the area.
Loved our stay at this beautiful old palácio! The staff was very friendly, efficient, and helped me practice speaking Spanish. Our meal in their restaurant was wonderful - one of the best during our trip, including three Michelins.
Wonderful place to stay. Such a historic building with old furnishings. Old fashioned but the bathroom was fresh and modern. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious. The wine list was impressive . Breakfast also very good.
Situated in a small village close to Haro. Not much to do in the village except enjoying the hotel and restaurant.
We enjoyed to stay here very much.
The room is part of an historical building completely renovated which resembles a castle.
Very spacious room and clean. Breakfast is also very good with different options.
The only drawback is that it was impossible to reach out to the hotel via phone or email!
Restaurant is very good (but close on Sunday).
Family business and friendly people managing the place.
We stayed over for one night travelling from Bilbao to Alicante. Daniel and his family were fantastic hosts, the hotel itself was full of character. We had dinner and it was superb, breakfast was continental with yogurts, fruit and pastries with toast and fried eggs if wanted, they were lovely. The juicer for the orange juice was great. On-site parking too.
Our room was a suite but reasonably priced. I would go back again, I shall try on our return journey.
Thanks Daniel
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming hotel in the heart of La Riola, and I can’t recommend it enough! The location is perfect, allowing easy access to all the nearby wineries. Waking up each morning was a delight, serenaded by the enchanting songs of the Koo Koo owl, complemented by the gentle sounds of church bells ringing in the distance.
The hotel itself is immaculately clean, with a lovely Dalit turning bed that provided a cozy atmosphere. The memory foam pillows and mattress were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and delicious, setting us up perfectly for the day.
The air conditioning worked wonders, keeping the space cool and comfortable, and having an elevator was a huge plus when traveling with heavy luggage. The family that runs this hotel treats you like their own, showcasing kindness and authenticity that made our stay even more special.
One of the highlights was the chance to witness their own winery operations—if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of wine-making firsthand! Additionally, the hotel serves as a beautiful wedding venue; we were fortunate enough to see a stunning wedding taking place during our checkout.
We hold this family in high regard and have immense respect for their hospitality. We can’t wait to return to this wonderful place!
The place is so nice! Authentic Spanish atmosphere, very attentive people and great food!! Strongly recommend it if you want to experience real Spanish charm in a small town.
This is a fabulous hotel, luxurious and very well presented. The staff were very helpful and polite. Our only disappointment was the restaurant and bar closed on Sunday evening. We had to drive into Haro but found it very quiet for restaurants, which considering the football world cup being on, we were surprised about. Otherwise, the hotel itself is highly recommended.
This 15 century hotel/restaurant is wonderfully renovated. Restaurant is closed on our date of arrival, and front desk older gentleman used Google Translate and send us to a Mich. recommended restaurant in town of Haro only 12 min away and dinner experience turn out great. Bkft from 9-10 am was excellent even w fresh squeezed orange juice.
Really great overnight stop enroute to Bilbao, the staff were lovely and the food and accommodation perfect. Quiet relaxing location for our last night in Spain
Lovely one night in a family run hotel, very tastefully refurbished in classic traditional Spanish style. We would stay again. Restaurant provided an excellent meal and breakfast was substantial.
This lovely gem is a few minutes away (by car) from Haro, which has many of the Rioja wineries tasting rooms. It is in a very small town, and our room was very spacious. Air conditioning, nice breakfast, etc. But you must drive to other locations. Perfect place for a peaceful night of rest!
On reviendra. Tout était parfait, aussi le bar et la terrasse. Nous n'avons toutefois pas testé le restaurant (fermé le mardi).
