"Shame previous owners let the hotel go to disrepair as it was a wonderful place.
100% respect to the new owner who is doing a great, time consuming task (without the help of planning department) to bring this Hotel/Restaurant back to the great place it was."

"Easy to find near Dumfries and a nice break into Scotland at the start of our journey. Room was clean and comfortable, and we had the one nearest the ramp so didn't have to climb steps. Room was a bit dark, but easy to move around in, and had sufficient power outlets so we could charge our phones without a problem.
Dinner was very good and the owner introduced me to a new ale that i hadn't tried before... great recommendation!
We also found out he was the local postmaster, and let us confirm...
"Set in a rural area, with god access to main roads. Plenty of local amenities within a short distance. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Often spending time for a chat. Facilities on Offer were more than adequate for my personal needs."
"I didn't actually get to stay there a key code was never sent so i had to make alternative arrangements and pay someone else for a room im now still waiting for a full refund no apologies or anything else so im waiting for a full refund off £450 thats what i want "
"The hotel is centrally located. I had a comfortable room and it was clean. Plenty of coffee and tea. Needs refurbishing hotel wise but I wss surprised it was quiet and comfortable "
"Location was perfect for walks we wanted to do (including Merrick). Accommodation was new and so in perfect order. I had asked before arrival if bedding was included since the photos didn't show. Answer came back yes. What they didn't tell me at that point was that towels/shower gel/dish towels were not included and so we wasted time going into town to spend £34 on towels. Reception did promise my wife a dish towel so we could dry their cups and plates , but it never appeared. Just let people...
"A perfect little cabin in a perfect location. We had a cold clear night and can confirm that the sky is huge and beautiful!

"The ships cabin is a lovely place to stay for a couple. Everything you need, it’s clean, modern, and well located in Gatehouse. Parking off road just outside on the drive.
The WiFi works, the tv has loads of channels. Very comfortable would recommend. It’s is located centrally in Gatehouse, just a bit away from the Spa, park, Ship pub and a fab ice cream shop. Gatehouse is a lovely place. Very friendly residents. Thank you for a wonderful stay."
"Lovely propery, clean and well equipped. Private parking space and easy access to outdoors, which is a bonus for travellers with dogs. Great view of the harbour and walking distance to a pub, restaurant and a cafe. Loads of walks and scenic views in the area."
