"This is a great base for a few days in Coimbra, which is a must-see in between Porto and Lisbon. Our room was comfortable with great beds and a view of the charming tile-roofed hills. "We had a two night stay at the Solar Antigo Coimbra. The Pros about the property are: unique accomodations, very nice staff & nice breakfast brought to your room each morning. The cons: The room (at least we the one we got on the main level) was very small, there is no privacy between the shower, toilet and the rest of the room. "Need better description of parking in area around hotel on travel websites like Expedia beyond “parking available”. It does not help travellers from other countries who are renting vehicles know what to expect. We had a kitchenette unit and did not have basic like salt, pepper, frying pan. Coffee maker did not work. Available dishes, cutlery and pots were good. The room and bed was really good."

"Rooms are tiny but clean. The shared kitchen is nice to have though we didn't cook. You must be comfortable with self check-in and texting for information. The app was slow to send through so that was a little annoying (that is, I had a quick response according to the time stamp, but the app didn't push it through for hours). Parking is free if you are willing to walk but it's probably better than driving in the medieval streets! Overall, good for a night or two."

We phoned the number listed to discover that one needed to check in at the front desk of the nearby Hotel Oslo.
