"Wow what a gem ! This would have been one of our nicest stays in NZ. The old house has been beautifully restored and so tastefully fitted out. Annabel was an outstanding host, very delightful and so helpful. Breakfast was fantastic and small things like the chocolates in the room reminded us of a by gone era of hospitality. If you are going to stay anywhere in NZ make sure this hotel is on the top of list!"

The rooms are beautifully designed and very Dunedin with its low-key sophistication: spacious, quiet, and comfortable in all the ways that matter. But what truly sets The Chamberson apart from other hotels in Central Dunedin are the people behind it: Michael and Jackie. Travel has become increasingly frictionless and increasingly impersonal at the same time. We move through airports, apps, kiosks, and automated messages. Then occasionally you meet someone who reminds you that hospitality is not a set of instructions but a human gift, the gift of making a stranger feel welcome in a new place or unfamiliar situation. Jackie and Michael have that rare gift. Years from now, I may forget the details of the room, but I will remember the feeling of being genuinely welcomed and cared for during our stay at the Chamberson. P.S. "We stayed in a garden studio and it was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Decent little kitchenette. The fold out couch wasn’t very comfy - I think it would be fine for a smaller child. Beautiful setting and we really enjoyed waking up to the beautiful country views."
