Well appointed hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. The pool is pleasant and useful in hot climates for cooling down but it is not one for swimming because it becomes very shallow just after halfway.
The hotel is in easy walking distance to old town Aix. More importantly it is a beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities. Brunch was delicious. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was very clean and a good size when compared to others in Europe. I would highly recommend this hotel!
The hotel is in an ideal location, right on the edge of the old town. What really marks it out though is the beautiful outdoor pool and indoor spa facilities. The breakfast was good and the service from all staff excellent. We would look forward to returning
Grom beginning to the end our stay was fantastic! Staff was friendly and helpful . The on sight dinning was very good with a nice selection of choices. Breakfast in the morning offered a nice variety choices to choose from. Clean and very comfortable rooms.
We had an amazing stay at Aquabella! It is very centrally located. The property is gorgeous! The room was spacious and very clean! The pool was a peaceful, beautiful, and delightful place to be! The staff were welcoming and incredibly helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
Room was lovely and comfortable. The only comment I have is that the tub is quite slippery and another grab bar or mat would be helpful. The brunch and the breakfast buffets were wonderful with a wide variety of hot dishes, breads , fruits cheeses, etc. Sadly we didn’t get a chance to use the pool or take advantage of the spa. The location was very convenient, with a 3-10 minute walk to all the places we wanted to go to. Uber rides from La Rotonde to Aquabella were reasonable a few times when we were too hot and tired to make the trek back. I’d happily stay here again. Also, we were there during le canicule- the heatwave, and it was always cool and comfortable inside the hotel.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay mostly because of the spa facilities. I didn’t get to experience dining so I cannot comment on those.
Like: spacious rooms, comfortable bed, spa facilities, outdoor pool
Could be better: I think the speed of cleaning turnover could be better and the property could anticipate busier seasons. I already respect the 3 hour gap between checkout and check in, and I don’t expect to be ready before 3 pm, but if like me who checked in at 12 and came back later and let reception know, and patiently waiting in reception for 30 mins before 3 pm, I would have liked to think my room would have been prioritised to be ready. However at 3 pm I saw at least 2 more guests just arrived, checked in and given rooms, and when I asked about my room before any other guests got to check in, they still had to check if my room was ready.
Although the hotel was in a great location, room was nice and the pool area/restaurant very nice, for us, it was the staff that let it down. Pretty much everyone was very cold and businesslike. There was no warmth in welcoming you to the hotel and certainly a distinct lack of information regarding both the hotel and area. If you asked questions at the desk, you were made to feel as if you were being a nuisance. It was apparent that the focus was on business and the events being held there; tourists did not seem to be a priority. Also, we nad heard about the great breakfast buffet but it was underwhelming. We expected great pastry, quiche etc but there was little to none. It took until late afternoon to get our room cleaned and it was only after I asked for some water at the desk that it was done. Would we stay here again? Unfortunately, we have to say no.
After weeks of traveling across Eastern France and staying in some less than ideal hotels, Aquabella was a breath of fresh air and a great place to finish our trip. Its location is a short walk to most of the amazing restaurants and cafes in Aix. Although we didn’t avail ourselves of the spa (which is huge) we did spend some serious time soaking up the sunshine at the beautiful pool.
My only negative observations were the elevators needed servicing (jerking to a halt on each floor) and their online hotel guide needed updating to reflect the actual opening times of the restaurant and pool as well as the available TV channels. Speaking of, it would be nice if they had a few more English speaking channels available but this was the norm in most places we stayed.
Still, a great hotel in a great location and I would return anytime without hesitation.
