Bike/equipment store. No smoking.. Set all on one level, the Grade II listed Stable at Longhoughton Hall dates back to the 18th century and has been sympathetically converted into a charming cottage, set in its own area of the gardens of the Hall. Built from the local, golden Northumbrian stone this pretty abode showcases the original roof timbers. Large windows in the lounge area, replacing the original stable entrance gates for farm horses in the past, create a light and airy living space with a log burner ensuring cosy evenings.
Longhoughton is a pretty, little coastal village, just 4 miles east of the famous, historic market town of Alnwick which offers a wide array of amenities including a cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops, a variety of pubs and eateries. Home to the Duke of Northumberland and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, Alnwick Castle is a popular visitor attraction and only a gentle stroll from the town centre. Don’t forget to visit the Alnwick Gardens; a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and ’poison’ garden. A great day out for all the family and you can dine in the largest tree house restaurant in Europe.
Once you’re ready to begin your Northumbrian adventure, firstly head to the hidden bay at Sugar Sands – an idyllic beach with views across to Dunstanburgh Castle, sited mid-way on the beautiful 20-mile stretch of Heritage coastline designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Readily accessible by public transport, this characterful cottage is only 4 miles from Alnmouth and the ever-popular village of Warkworth with its dominant castle, or head north and sample the world-famous kippers of Craster with the nearby walk to the iconic Dunstanburgh Castle, and beyond that, the iconic Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island.

A very enjoyable stay, plenty to see and do, excellent places to eat out, walks in abundance and beautiful beaches. The Stable was comfortable and beautifully presented and the owners very helpful.
A beautiful relaxing property. Everything we needed. A quiet location close to coast. Walking and castles all close by. Loved it!

The Stable is a super place to stay - very modern, clean and comfortable inside, quiet and relaxing
The Stable is a super place to stay - very modern, clean and comfortable inside, quiet and relaxing sitting outside on the patio surrounded by the pretty garden. Longhoughton itself has a good cafe - the Running Fox and an interestingchurch. It’s also handy for local amenities and exploring Northumberland. There are supermarkets nearby in Alnwick as well as the Castle. We played both golf courses in Alnmouth (with good views of the sea) and caught the train down to Durham to visit the Cathedral. So much to see and do - not enough time. We will be back!
