The lodge is in a wonderfully secluded location just outside grasmere, surrounded by an enclosed woodland garden. The property itself is a bit tired and could definitely do with a deeper clean and a bit of tlc- particularly the bathroom and kitchen which need a total revamp! having said that, it does grow on you after a day or two, was warm and cosy and certainly peaceful. My elderly mum found the steps down into the kitchen a bit difficult at times - a handrail would be useful (there is one down to the bathroom ). we did, however have a lovely enjoyable few days, as did my young spaniel, and would probably book again as it was a good base, the garden was just ‘us’ and the communication with host was good - Ruth even provided me with a zbed so that I didn’t have to bed share with mum!
