Great family stay

Amazing property and a host in Richard that goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Location is stunning and the property has lots of charms including private walk to Grasmere and gardens with nightly badger visits.

Nature at its best

We had a fantastic stay at Lake View. We didn’t realise that we could walk to the lake edge and spend some time in the sunshine. It was so peaceful and serene. The badger watching was an absolute treat.

What a nice quit stay we had! Richard was very helpful! Do make sure you have contact with him before you get there to get your room assignment. Are room was spacious and had beautiful views. Are very convenient to Grasmere.

Great little place

Fabulous Views, Great Room

Booked just one night as a last minute getaway. Stayed in the Penthouse which has a large blacony with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom great. The beams are low at the edges of the room but we are both tall and managed to avoid them :) I would highly recommend this place and will be staying here again in the future.

Lovely big room. Everything was thought of - in the conservatory area spare umbrella's blankets, maps, books, games, torches, walking sticks to borrow. We had a lovely stay.

Great central location with parking, just off the beaten track and a nice garden that badgers visit regularly. Sadly the ground floor room I stayed in had no outside view. The tall window was opaque for privacy reasons but the top half could have been left to be able to see outside. Felt a little claustrophobic. The proprietor was warm and friendly.

Lovely location a couple of minutes walk to the village centre and the quirky pub restaurant affiliated to the guesthouse. Food was limited but fine and the staff lovely and attentive. Made a nice change from the hotels we normally frequent in Grasmere. A minor issue would be the need for a shower attachment to the bath in the suite we stayed in. The garden was quiet and secluded where we enjoyed a bottle of champagne we brought with us as an aperitif before the meal. English breakfast in the morning at the pub was excellent and we came away with a bottle of Grasmere gin from the attached brewery. What’s not to like about this quiet hidden gem. Highly recommended.

Beautifully clean and tastefully decorated. Central location. Easy walk into the village or down the private access lane to the lake. Badgers are regular visitors as well as red squirrels.

Beautiful location, central, car parking

Excellent welcome, nice room, beautiful view across the garden to the lake, stunning scenery. Great breakfast, plenty to eat. Beth and Paul were really helpful, suggesting nice places to eat locally. Rooms are in need of updating and this is going to happen next week. Can't wait to re-visit after the updates it can only get better.

Central village location, disappointing room

we were on the ground floor, good that we didn't have to climb stairs, bur our window looked out onto the splendid conservatory, so for privacy the panes had been obscured. This meant the room felt claustrophobic. Excellent en-suite bathroom. No food served in the hotel so had a short walk to the co-owned pub on the main street. Thankfully it didn't rain. No lake view from ground level.
