Wateredge Inn, Ambleside We stayed at the Wateredge Inn in October for one night and really liked it. The location is perfect, right by the water, and the room was lovely with an incredibly comfortable bed. Everything felt nicely done and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was very good too. We’d happily stay here again and definitely recommend it to others.

Great location right by the lake. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the check-in area was also the same place as the bar, which meant that it took a long time to get checked in as you had to wait in line with people who were ordering drinks. Otherwise the stay was nice.

A decent hotel

We enjoyed a two night break. The hotel was fine, but nothing special. We were comfortable had a decent breakfast but evening meals were unimpressive.

Loved the whole experience already planning our next trip. Parked the car on Monday never touched it til leaving. Getting around the lakes on public transport was excellent the inn exceeded our expectations location, staff, amenities were all excellent would recommend the wateredge to anyone.

Was a really nice place to stay .short walk into ambleside.the restraunt food was really good in the evening after out walking for the day .also the breakfast was good.ALL staff were really friendly.

Greeted by super-friendly and helpful staff. Room was a really good size for a standard double and had great views of the lake. The food at the pub was excellent for dinner as well as the breakfast. Easy parking. Will return in the summer!

Definitely would recommend and stay here. Only criticism was that a dog was barking for quite a while in the dining / bar area. Don’t blame the dog but the owners should have taken the dog out. Def the Inn needs to introduce a 3 bark and your out rule.

Lovely room, delicious food, delightful location

The room was modern and clean with a fantastic, powerful shower. Food downstairs was delicious. The only negative I would say is that check in is performed by a person who also has to make coffees and deal with cellar issues.

Despite not being able to arrive here until late, we received a very cheerful welcome from our hostess who even showed us our room. Excellent space and furnishings and waterside view beautiful, especially from the pub garden. Good mixed hot and cold breakfast. Excellent stay.

One night back from Scotland

Good place for a weekend away by the lake and the can walk to the ferry station on the lake . Only one thing I would say about the rooms you can here everyone else is rooms no soundproof.

Good.

Good location. Room was small but perfectly adequate and with nice bathroom. Lake view was not great - large flat room in front of us. Nice gardens on the edge of the lake. The Waterhead Inn next door had a great team working there, more friendly. We ate there and that was very good. Easy to walk into Ambleside, no need to drive which is a huge bonus. Lovely countryside and walks.

Wateredge is dated but clean. My only real disappointment is that our heater did not work so they gave us a space heater which I was not a fan of. It is pricey for the quality of amenities but the rooms are large. There was one staff member Rhys who was awesome! The other staff l encountered were not as helpful, beautiful views and surroundings on the lake… but checkout is 10:30 am sharp and there was really nowhere to check bags.

Really Really Enjoyed

What was there not to like. Excellent position on the Lake. Lovely clean room with a comfortable bed and staff who went the extra mile. Food was good and especially the breakfast. The staff were more mature and understood what good service means....and we got it We cannot thank you enough. This was our first time away with our Jack Russell dog and we were all made to feel wanted. Ignore some of the negative reviews we will be returning asap.

Room was tiny, the sink wasn’t even in the bathroom, it was in the bedroom. We found a sock left by someone else on the radiator. No fan was in the room. All round pretty poor unfortunately.

Lovely position. Great breakfast!

Overall very comfortable stay. At check in, the layout of rooms could have been explained. It took us two days to work out the quickest and easiest way to our room. Breakfast was a first class buffet. Everything seemed to be cooked well, i.e. fried egg yokes were still runny, bacon was not over cooked as is often the case, tomatoes were still solid, not overcooked. Unfortunately the fire alarm went off three times during our stay. All false alarms, one at 06.00 in the morning. There really should be staff going round reassuring people that it was a false alarm. I think the hotel was a little under staffed but I know it is difficult to get staff these days. An example would be one of the most popular bitters running out and the barman not having time to change the barrel because there were no staff to cover and it was busy. Lovely position overlooking the lake.

The room included parking and breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Good location for Ambleside and getting the boats to other parts of the lake. Lovely clean room, good bed and bedding. Breakfast was hot and cold buffet and very good as were the evening meals.
