Something for Everybody

Unique spot on a surprisingly quiet block that opens up onto everything you could want for a family stay. Walking distance from virtually everything and, if it's not, there's fast and efficient public transport awithin a stones throw. Great place to experience one of the greatest cities in the world. .

Cute and unique apartment

Well stocked and well decorated apartment in central Amsterdam. Hosts were very nice and responsive to a few questions. Comfortable furnishing and a nice layout. One thing to note, the sleeping areas are in the basement are separated however there are not doors to seperate the rooms. Comfortable and the beds are not in sight of each other

Amazing Apartment!!

This apt was fantastic! The location was a short walk to museums, the train station, and best of all, BIKE RENTALS!! Owners were quick to recommend some great restaurants, beds were very comfortable, and we appreciated the toilet being separated from the shower. Of the many many stays we have had over the years, this was definitely top 5! Thank you!!

Fantastic Rental

Wonderful and cool place to stay in Amsterdam! Location was spot on (close to cafes, pubs, shops, canals, museums etc) really nice/quiet street, and well kept. The apartment itself was very comfortable and perfect for our family visit. Finally, Francois was the perfect host. If you are visiting Amsterdam, I would highly recommend booking this…you will not be disappointed!

Wonderful home base in Amsterdam!

We had the best stay in this apartment! It was a great location with easy access to trams as well as easy walking to pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. The apartment itself had an incredibly cool vibe and my family of 5 (including 3 teens) loved it. We all miss Amsterdam so much and hope to get back someday. Thank you, Francois!

Great stay in AMS

Super nice quiet and well appointed apartment. Check in process was seamless, the apartment was as advertised and in a great neighborhood a few minutes walk to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Vondelpark. A street level apartment was also nice. Those who have stayed in Amsterdam apartments before know all about the narrow, winding and steep stairways!

Amster-damn wonderful!

As I wrote in the guest book: one word to describe this place: Wow!! It is beautiful, well-appointed, the space super-well organized and extremely well situated! The owner is very nice, responds rapidly and is very helpful. We had an amazing time in Amsterdam and as a surprise, it was Pride week ending on the Saturday when we arrived. Our canal boat tour brought us on the edge of the canal parade of Pride, with all the colors, music, energy. It was a great 3 days in a beautiful place.

Awesome in every way!

This is the most creative short term rental we’ve ever stayed in and maximizes the space beautifully. I would only recommend the space for those very comfortable with each other since there is little privacy between sleeping areas and showering. This was not a problem with my wife and I traveling with our kids. The location can not be beat either! Extremely close to coffee shops, restaurants, the metro, and a bike rental shop. We would definitely stay here again!

Our family of 4 loved this apartment when we saw the pictures and it was even better in person. Our host was helpful with check in process and when we arrived there were local treats on the counter and beverages in the refrigerator. That was such a pleasant touch. The location was excellent. We ate at some of the local restaurants including the bagel shop, the steakhouse and of course the carousel pancake restaurant. We would definitely stay in this apartment again and we are recommending it to our family members considering a trip to the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

Nice location but beware of staircase

Great location, clean, friendly hosts. However, the steep and winding staircase should be noted in listing. Almost impossible to take suitcases down without having two people. We just left ours upstairs. Other than that, no complaints. It’s very quiet and not a far walk from most things.

Amazing apartment in Amsterdam!

We had the most wonderful stay in Amsterdam! The apartment is even more beautiful than the pictures in the listing. The walk-up main level is easy to access and the stairs to the beds and bath below are easy to navigate. The apartment had all of the kitchen essentials for us to cook breakfast each morning and Francois was gracious enough to make restaurant recommendations close by for dinner. The metro is a short walk across the street which made all travel in and out of the city easy. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Amsterdam!

Our family had a quick 3 night get away. The apartment was in a perfect location. There were beautiful canal walks a few blocks away. Museums were a fifteen minute walk. Also close to plenty of restaurants, cafes, and public transportation. The apartments was clean and equipped with everything we needed. The apartment offered sone private doses for our family and at same time was bright and open. Our host was easy to contact and quick to respond.

Unique, comfortable, charming!

This property is wonderfully located, within walking distance from almost everywhere you want (or need) to go in Amsterdam and therefore anywhere in the Netherlands from the central train station. Francois is a gracious host, who left the kitchen generously stocked. There was a small mechanical problem which he came and fixed promptly. He explained the fascinating transformation of his property into the current flat, requiring 2 years of vision and labor. It's attractively and ingeniously decorated on two and a half levels with plenty of space for a couple or family of 4-5. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as was the sitting area. We had a wonderful stay, and I would highly recommend De Weteringschans!

Cool and unique space with good location

Stayed with 2 adults and 3 kids (6, 10, and 12 years). The space is unique and well decorated. The kids loved the swing and hanging bed. Location was good with very easy metro and tram access, nearby restaurants, walkable to Van Gough museum and nearby parks. The king beds and furniture were comfortable. Plenty of towels, very clean, and thoughtful “extras” available like shopping bags, dishwasher detergent, etc. Be aware that the sleeping spaces are below ground without windows. The front entryway is glass doors, which we left open when in the apartment to get some fresh air, but no other windows. There were fans (which we used to generate some airflow) and a window unit a/c (that we did not use). This apartment would not be suitable for very small children due to the stairs and many places a toddler could fall (and be seriously injured). Was great for our older kiddos. Good communication with host.
