Summary:
This is not a polished resort setting. The area is rustic, raw, and distinctly mountain Colorado. Roads, terrain, weather, and surroundings can feel more remote than suburban or city travelers may expect. That is part of the experience.
Wake up to beautiful views of Mt. Rosalie and enjoy the quiet mountain surroundings. The home is located about 12 minutes from Highway 285, giving you a peaceful mountain setting while still providing access to Denver and the Colorado high country.
Head east for dining, sports, concerts, and city amenities. Head west for hiking, fly fishing, off-road routes, scenic drives, mountain towns, nearby open space, and national forest land. In winter, the property works well as a launch point for ski days and snow-season adventures. In summer, the deck is a great place for cool mornings, mountain air, and long evenings outside.
Inside, the home is comfortable and functional, with a relaxed layout well suited for slow mornings, board games, meals together, and recovering after a full day outside. On cold Colorado evenings, settle in around the wood-burning stove and enjoy the mountain setting.
This is a true mountain home, and with that comes some of the realities of mountain living, including very dark nights, wildlife, changing weather, and cold winter temperatures. We want guests to know exactly what to expect before arriving, so please read the full listing and property details before booking.
The Space:
What to Expect
The home is most comfortable for up to 4 adults, with one enclosed bedroom and one open loft bedroom. The couches can also accommodate up to 2 small children.
The home is heated by baseboard heaters and a wood-burning stove. During colder weather, the wood stove may be necessary to comfortably heat the home. Because this is a mountain property, we cannot always guarantee the home will be fully preheated before arrival. Firewood may be available at the property, but availability cannot be guaranteed, so guests visiting during colder months should plan accordingly.
The home has a full kitchen, coffee maker, open living space, and an upper-level deck overlooking the surrounding mountain scenery and Mt. Rosalie.
The ceiling fans and stairway light are decorative and are not currently operational. For additional lighting and air circulation, lamps and plug-in fans are provided throughout the home. We want to make sure guests are aware of this before booking so there are no surprises when you arrive.
The surrounding area is very dark after sunset, with significantly less lighting than you may be accustomed to in a city or suburban area. If possible, we recommend arriving before dark, particularly for your first visit to the property.
Wildlife is common in the area. All trash and food waste must be placed inside the designated bear-proof trash container and securely latched. Please never leave food or trash outside.
This is a rustic mountain home with some quirks, but that is also part of its character. It’s a comfortable base for guests looking for mountain views, privacy, fresh air, and easy access to Colorado’s outdoors.
If you have any questions about the home or what to expect during your stay, please reach out before booking. We want our guests to have a great experience and believe in being upfront about the unique features and quirks of this rustic mountain home. The property is priced with these considerations in mind, while offering a comfortable and affordable way to enjoy the Colorado mountains.
