Accommodation excellent, indoor breakfast excellent. However, outdoor / marquee dining for evening meal was only okay. BBQ food only and despite heaters the marquee was cold.
The bedrooms and ensuites are spacious and clean and the beds very comfortable. I advise that you ask for a room with a view - my view of the back of a building was somewhat off-putting! As this is an old building, it has old-world grandeur. Its grounds are very large and pleasant with a golf course as well as fishing (at a cost). As I stayed during the Covid-19 restrictions, the bar was closed and the restaurant housed in a large bamboo tent with a reduced BBQ-themed menu (varied on certain days). I understand that live music is provided for diners on certain nights. Having stayed in this hotel before, the non-availability of its fully functioning restaurant was unfortunate. However, the hotel is to be commended for how it is coping with the restrictions of the pandemic, and the staff are nice and respectful. Breakfast is served in the hotel's function room at present and is of a very good quality.
The Hotel itself is charming, stunning grounds, great food and beautiful rooms. It really met with our expectations and we would definitely return. he only issue we all experienced was poor communication with the front reception staff. We had booked a falconry appointment on our last day there and they completely screwed it up and we ended up not going which was really disappointing . Also we found the majority of the staff on the front desk to be
Room was fabulous, views amazing but as i was there on business and arrived late i was disappointed to learn that i could not order anything at all to eat at 9pm. Receptionist offered to help with a take away but it wasnt something i was interested in.
The grounds are fantastic!! The hotel is surrounded by trees which is sooo relaxing!
The swimming pool area is a gem and the leisure team is extremely friendly and helpful!
On top of that, the food was amazing. It was a great stay and I will probably come again! Thank you!
A truly amazaming experience. The property was amazing the and the activities were numerous to stay busy if you wanted. We elected to wander around and just enjoy the scenery and nice fall weather. The spa is very nice and the staff well trained.
Very hospitable and helpful reception staff. Fish at dinner was extremely flavorful -- one of the best I've ever eaten. Guestroom was pretty minimal. Pool area was fine -- nice jacuzzi. Location not good for tourist relying on public transit.
Enjoyed our stay. Rooms are expensive and are not as luxurious as one would expect for the price. Bathrooms are big but not cosy. Room lacking any individuality.Rooms over looking car park not offering nice views. Food excellent. Chrildren running up and down corridors not very inviting, although that was early in evening. People using lodges were also having breakfast, we were staying in the hotel and had to wait a while for a table. Guests off the hotel should be giving priority and reservstions should know what quests are having breakfast due to teir bookings. Best if that issue is sorted.
We only stayed one night - I wish we could have spent longer here. We had a drink in the Boathole a fabulous relaxing dinner at The Kitchen, walked the walking path one the grounds and visited an old cemetery and megalithic stone site. You can fly fish, shoot clay pigeons, do archery or falconry. Very classy and beautiful place. Definitely worth the money to stay here you won't be disappointed. The staff and very kind and classy.
This was a great experience. I would highly recommend this amazing and beautiful hotel. The breakfast was amazing and taking the Falconry event was incredible. Service was exceptional.
This is a gorgeous hotel and a treat to stay in. The only negative comment we could make was in regard to our meal in the boathole bar. We let the wait staff know that my boyfriend was a coeliac and they were more than accommodating and very knowledgeable.
They passed the request onto the kitchen but unfortunately he was served chips from a shared fryer (with gluten food) with his meal. This was rectified quickly by waiting staff when we queried it.
He was then served ice cream, which he was told was coeliac friendly however, the wait staff came to us as he was eating it to state the gingerbread ice cream within the bowl may not be safe to eat.
Luckily, my boyfriend was not sick following this, however, another coeliac guest could may have had their break ruined by this.
Putting the above aside, we would gladly stay here again however and I only bring this up so the kitchen can be aware of this.
I would definitely recommend we really enjoyed our stay!
fabulous food.
Could not get a suite for the dates that I was looking for, the superior rooms were somewhat noisy from adjacent rooms, which annoys me.
Anyway, this is our second stay and will not be our last.
Next time I will book well in advance for one of the two deluxe suites.
