This was an amazing place to stay and I truly didn't want to leave. The rooms and furnishings are beautiful and the coffee shop located in the building is wonderful. I can't wait to go back!
Fantastic place in a fantastic location. The Hampden neighborhood is a favorite spot for my GF and me and we are so happy we have discovered this lovely place!
Beautifully appointed rooms with comfortable beds in great location. Cons: can’t get coffee until 7am and requires going to attached coffee shop. Self-serve coffee in hotel lobby would be preferred. Also internet didn’t work in the morning. Place is not staffed after 5pm but text service very responsive.
Very cute room and place with a great natural vibe. Very well cared for. It smelled great. The tv was awesome. The bed was comfortable. Lots close by. Parking can be tricky.
Loved the design of the property and the little details like the “shop this room” and the white noise machine! Lovely room setup so cute and also very sustainable, such a well curated aesthetic! One thing is the toilet hanger kept falling which was a little inconvenient, and I couldn’t find any tissues so I had to use toilet paper, but other than that I loved our stay and the cafe!!
It was well designed and a great location! There isn't actually on site parking - it is street parking, with a spot to unload only, but we didn't have difficulty finding a place to park.
We had no idea what to expect when we arrived. What a gem!! Wonderfully appointed, clean and modern, we could not have asked for a better experience. The (only) slight drawback might be the parking (neighborhood street), though it didn’t take too long to find a nearby spot. Highly recommend this place!
This is a wonderful place to stay! The staff was wonderful and the service was as well. This was my first trip to Baltimore. Being a college town it’s very busy and this is an older neighborhood but they did amazing work on this property. I would definitely return to the Good neighbor.
The room exceeded my expectations. Yes, the houses next door are falling down BUT the property of the green neighbor is fabulous. The room is spotless, the coffee shop below has great beverages and the accompanying yard with tables are so much fun to hang out at night. Highly recommend.
Beautiful decor. Would have different fabric for towels and sheets. Neighborhood is in a transition. Two properties next to it boarded and in need of restoration. Hope that will happen. Good restaurants nearby. Safe to walk as a solo traveler.
This is such a special place! Proof that good design has the power to refresh, calm, and inspire a soul. My only regret is that I didn’t have more time to book in for a tour of the Design Garage. The coffee shop and book/magazine section is heaven! The feeling of community is palpable. It’s fun to read on the back steps and watch a steady flow of people come to rest, work and play. They set out to create a hotel that feels like home and did just that! I’ll be heading back very soon for a longer stay and deeper connection to this cool community of creatives.
It was artsey . Every room.seems to have a different design theme , which means you can have a different experience each time you stay. I stayed in dear summer...The decor is unique and its a fine example of a way to restore a house in baltimore , as it smells fabulous due to the investment in le labo candles and toiletries . Its like we would all like our homes to be when guest come,if we could put everytthubg togwther perfectly. The cafe had lovely drinks and you get a free one daily as a guest. When you call the emergency number someone answers.with an answer
You have to be careful when showering in the upstairs rooms to use the fan in the bathroom and keep the door closed to avoid setting off your fire alarm.its loud.
Hard to describe this place but I’m delighted we gave it a try! Exquisite design everywhere, Japanese minimalist, high end furniture, art, gentle music, natural textures, aromatherapy.. a beautiful experience for every sense. I’m fussy about cleanliness and everything was spotless. The common room/lobby was empty, so I spent the evening reading art books and loving the relaxing surroundings. The room and bathroom were prettier than the photos and everything just smelled so good. From design details to natural towels & linens to the friendly host at the front desk, it was a great experience.
We loved (almost) everything about our guesthouse experience. We appreciated the overall aesthetic - creative and thoughtful design centered on sustainable products and practices. While our room was small and our view was of a brick wall a couple feet away it had the feel of a comfortable nest we didn’t want to leave. We’re not big tv viewers, but we loved the very large screen that doubled as a rotating art piece. We weren’t thrilled with the sturdy towels and sheets. Not exceptionally soft, but good quality that will undoubtedly hold up well to repeated washing and long-term usage.
We were there in February so didn’t get to take advantage of the adjoining garden space, but the coffee shop on the ground level was first class. It was equally comfortable and welcoming and continued the sustainable design concept. Free coffee for overnight guests was appreciated, and the various toasts and bowls were intriguingly creative. And the close proximity to the happening Avenue allows for easy access to many interesting drinking and dining establishments.
Overall the guesthouse is thoughtfully designed and welcoming. We look forward to our next visit.
The property is unique and the decor is very artistic and interesting. The attention to detail was wonderful and the accommodations were very nice.
The area is less than 10 min walk to the main drag in Hamden where there are many nice restaurants, and it was quick to get a rideshare. It was a little less nice in some of the surrounding area though.
My main frustration is that I had to download an app to get the door codes. AND they sent only the numbers but no instructions. There were two different types of key codes (main and room doors), I had to fuss each time to guess whether it required pushing numbers PLUS a check mark or press the circle or press something before to wake up the lock. I had to do guess work each time with multiple tries and I would def dock half a star if I could for this.
Gorgeous boutique hotel with top-of-the-line service. We stayed for one night and somehow it felt like we had been on a weeklong vacation. We cannot wait to come back and stay in this design-forward space.
Really clean, nice room. Loved the entire set up and the room. Easy to access. Hard to find parking unfortunately and there was a loud meeting in the lobby in the morning, otherwise, great experience.
