Austurbyggð 3, in Laugarás, is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. It is located in the heart of the Golden Circle with many attractions close by. You can visit the amazing, natural and powerful hot spring Geysir and the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss, also Thingvellir National Park with all its nature phenomenon, Crater Kerið and the historical viking landmark Skálholt. Other interesting places to visit are the active volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull, the amazing Westman Islands and beautiful Seljalandsfoss. Stroll through center of the nearby cozy town of Selfoss and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the Reykjavík capital with all its glory, nightlife and culture, or take a day trip to the west to Snæfellsjökull national park or to the east to Vík and the Black Beach. Activities such as horse riding, fishing, hiking and snowmobiling are all in the area.

In the evenings you will always come back home to this modern architecturally designed house in Laugarás and the first thing you might do is to relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The house has a large kitchen with a long countertop, it is very spacious and ideal for family and friends preparing a good meal together. The kitchen has all necessary tableware and quality equipments for cooking and baking. The living room has floor to ceiling windows and an amazing view. Even if you are inside it feels like you are still completely connected to nature. In the living room you will find books and magazines to read and a great variety of TV channels on the large flat screen TV. The bedrooms are bright and spacious, with high quality beds, and a beautiful view. The bathrooms are spacious with long wooden countertops, both with a large shower room.

The design of the house is outstanding and well thought out. It has floor to ceiling windows, open space, hardwood floor, natural stone tiles, designed lighting, and with one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly floor heating systems installed in houses today. The heating system is perfect and we can guarantee you a warm and cozy house in the winter time.The house is designed by one of our best architects, Sigurður Ólafur Sigurðsson who designed many of our spectacular modern houses in Iceland.

On the large patio surrounding the house is a nice hot tub that fits up to 8 people, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The patio is perfect for making a good meal and relaxing in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn, ideal for kids to play.

We have been connected to Laugarás since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don't hesitate to send us an e-mail request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

Perfect for extended family vacation

Perfect place to stay with large family. Location was quiet and well situated for day trips. Had all the amenities we needed for meals in. Hosts were responsive. Gave tons of information ahead of time to help with planning our trip. Highly recommend!

Great place

Not too remote and not too close to the city, makes it a great place to try to view the northern light from the comfort of the home. Has a hot tub that you can relax in while waiting for it to appear at night.

Excellent Location

This property was excellent in communicating to us the beauty of Iceland. The surrounding scenery as well as the access to so many amazing places made this a perfect place for us. It was also the perfect size for 6 adults and 3 teenagers. Wonderful place to stay.

Awesome place for a family or group

Excellent. Very kid friendly, even had some toys and a couple balls as well as kid friendly cups, bowls and plates. Would also be great for a group of adults. The view is truly as beautiful as the online listing.

Wonderful Golden Circle location

We loved our stay here, we brought our 3 married children and their spouses and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us. Rooms had gorgeous views. The house’s location is idyllic, rural, but not far from Selfoss and easy to get to lots of fantastic natural wonders. All the amenities we needed, light and airy. Would definitely stay again.

Unique home in unique place. Great place to go north for gulfoss etc and south to glacier walks waterfalls Westland islands etc Bring your groceries as nearest store is in selfoss a 20 min drive one way but with some planning an awesome vacation Heidrun a great manager great communication

This is an amazing property.

Everything was in perfect shape and property is even better than website photos. Host was very knowledgeable and communicated quickly. We were an adult group of eight and house was above our expectations. Northern lights were amazing and views from home lovely.

Wonderful Home

This place was the highlight of our visit to Iceland. As a home base to go explore the Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon, Snowmobiling, Ice Caves, etc it can’t be beat. We were always happy to return home each evening and even took and entire day to rest and hang out at the house. The hot tub was fabulous and we were even able to see the Northern lights on 3 different evenings right out the windows! Communication with the owners was wonderful! Can’t recommend enough and would love to plan another visit some day!

This is a lovely home in a great location — both because of its view and location on Golden Circle.

We overall had a great experience. The owner was very helpful and the manual that came with the house covered all the information you would need. The house was spacious enough for 4 adults and 4 teenage girls. The only negative was that the house lacked sufficient necessities such as bathing towels, toilet paper, tissues, and cooking utensils. For the size of the home, and the service fees charged, this was a bit surprising. Other than this weakness, it was a great place to spend a week.

Incredible house, amazing views, great location

This is an incredible house with stunning views. We spent every night gathered around the kitchen table enjoying home cooked meals before enjoying the Northern Lights from the warmth of the hot tub surrounded by a gorgeous snowy landscape. The location is excellent for exploring the South Coast, from Selfoss to the Golden Circle to Vik. The neighboring towns have some good spots to eat, with friendly people throughout willing to make a local suggestion. All in all a perfect base for a special trip in Iceland. Would return for a visit any time! Note: Although the listing says Selfoss, the house is actually about 30-40 minutes outside of Selfoss, and about 90 minutes from Reykjavik. Not a big deal at all but something to be aware of when planning your trip.

Fantastic 3 nights in Iceland with 4 couples

This beautiful house far exceeded our expectations. The pictures only partially do it justice. The house was in impeccable shape, was very spacious and set in a beautiful location. All the bedrooms were large and comfortable. The kitchen and sitting areas were spacious and great for early mornings and evenings after full days of adventures. The hot tub was an incredible bonus and perfect for the end of a long day. We got a great bonus with two evenings of a northern lights show. We found the location perfect for a 5 day trip that allows you to get out of Reykjavic and see more of the southwest part of the country. Very convenient to Golden Circle as well as Seljandsfos, Skogafoss, and Reynisfjarn. Booking, check-in/check-out was super easy and Heidi always very responsive to answer any questions we had. All in all, absolutely perfect.

a beautiful home in a most tranquil setting.

This home is a most special place on earth. The home itself is absolutely a perfect place to stay in Iceland. Our family of 8, all adults, ranging from 26-60+ thoroughly enjoyed the house, each room was beautifully appointed, the view of the river and the surrounding environs is spectacular. We spent our week enormously enjoying the beautiful home, location, and country. Some days we relaxed, prepared our own home cooked meals, and went off to hike or experience the numerous sights of Iceland, soak in the hot tub, or head into Rekjavik to enjoy the architecture and great Icelandic culture. We experienced water falls, hot rivers, lava fields, green, green, green everywhere. Tranquility beyond compare. The beds were all extremely comfortable. Robert was the perfect homeowner. His love for this area inspired us! He was avaliable for any questions that arose. He helped us find a local cook Aska, who prepared several lovely dinners for us. It was an iideal way to end the days filled with adventures, hikes, sightseeing, puffin watching in the Westman Islands, etc. The Laugaras area is charming and idlyllic. Anyone who rents this home will be wowed by the interior, exterior, setting, and opportunity to experience Iceland.

Fantastic property!!!

I have nothing negative to say about this property. They have thoughtfully equipped the house with everything you could possibly need. The hot tub is a bonus and we used it to watch for the Northern Lights every night. All communication before and after arrival was answered very quickly. The setting is gorgeous along the banks of a river, a view enjoyed through the large glass windows. I would highly recommend this property even though it's a bit of a drive from the city. It's well worth it!!

Great space

The house was clean and had everything that we needed for the kitchen and bathroom. It was perfect for our big group and the views from the house were beautiful. The location of the house was also great because we were close to many of the popular things to see in Iceland but also far enough away from the more populated areas which meant we got to see the northern lights.

Aurora watching from the geothermal pool

Another amazing house and stay for our entire family; children, adults and seniors. The views from the house are something else and the private geo thermal pool absolutely the best. Enjoyed it an entire day while taking a break from sight seeing as windy -4C gave us that excuse. We were blessed with seeing the Aurora every night from the pool - indescribable amazing experience! Both houses we stayed in by Heidrun and Rob made our family iceland trip so much more special! Thank you 😀

Gorgeous setting and a great place to decompress at the end of a long day!

The house was clean, the kitchen was nicely appointed, and there was a large table for all of us to sit around after a fun day. We didn't spend as much time at the house as we would have liked, but when we were there we appreciated the hot tub, the hot showers, and the views. We used the house as our base camp to explore southern and western Iceland. We saw the northern lights too! Great place!

Beautiful, peaceful retreat

We loved the quiet location and natural setting for the large, comfortable house. Looking over the river while we relaxed was incredible, as was the hot tub on the deck. This was a perfect location for viewing northern lights!

Great for family reunions

I rented this property with my siblings and all of our families. Wow, what an amazing find. The location was very central in Iceland so getting to spectacular views in the Golden Circle was very quick and even pretty easy to get to further destinations like Vik. The house itself was incredible, very modern and easy to navigate. There were a lot of us, but the layout was such that we were able to each have our own space. One note is whoever gets the upstairs room won't have a door, so no late night cards unless they're playing too! The view off the back was absolutely incredible and something we'll keep with ourselves forever. Communication was excellent throughout the process, would definitely recommend.
