First, the house is off the beaten path. As my family and I were arriving, we questioned if we entered the right address. Our Apple Maps told us we arrived and there was no house, so continue driving up the hill and it’s on the right. You enter through the kitchen, which is a slight squeeze due to the kitchen arrangement. Once you enter, you continue to walk through to your left where you enter the dining room, and continue back towards the open living room. This is the main floor and middle level. Upstairs is quite cute for small children and large families - it includes it’s own private porch, two two beds (in the game room) and then another private room with a queen bed. Back on the Main Level includes the full bathroom - watch your head - it’s not meant for extremely tall or large people as it’s quite tight. Although the lightning above the mirror is perfect for applying makeup. Downstairs is the main bedroom with the King-size bed. Downstairs/Lower Level also includes a half bath. This makes showering and getting ready a small battle as you have to walk up and down the narrow steep steps for your things. The reason we are giving 4-stars is because there is no access to a washer/dryer. Although we did notice a hook up in the downstairs bathroom, which would have been HIGHLY convenient for our family of three. We came home with loads of laundry - not ideal for returning home mid-week. Vacasa was helpful when learning how to Exit the home/lock-up as we had to contact our first night there because we were unsure how to lock up with the code box. The lady was extremely helpful. Downtown Blue Ridge is approx. 25 min away traveling on Aska Rd., which is quite the trek each day, totaling almost an hour on the road, after traveling to visit already. You have to take your time and drive slowly down the windy, mountain road. Being that our trip was intended for visiting Blue Ridge, it was a small disappointment to travel each way when wanting to go to town (Walmart, Ingles, downtown, restaurants, etc.) because there is NOTHING around! Lastly, in regards to being pet-friendly, we quite enjoyed being able to bring our furry family member along. There was already two dog bowls available, which was a nice surprise. As for returning, I cannot say we would due to the type of experience we were looking for. Although, if you’re looking for an in-the-woods, let’s not go anywhere, it’s perfect! The campfire was a huge hit for my little boy, but it is slightly away from the house, so didn’t want him to wander alone. Overall, it was quite the adventure and we appreciated the stay!
