"I recently stayed at the InterContinental Brisbane and, while there were some positives, the Classic King Room was noticeably dated and worn and would benefit greatly from the hotel’s upcoming refurbishment. Housekeeping also fell short on this occasion—the room had not been vacuumed properly, and a sock belonging to the previous guest was still underneath the drawers. It is encouraging to hear that the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, and I look forward to seeing the finished result, as the property has plenty of potential. On a very positive note, Stuart, the Duty Manager, is an absolute asset to the establishment. He was professional, attentive and genuinely customer-focused. Shaun in the bar was equally impressive, providing attentive service with impeccable customer-service standards. Unfortunately, my experience with Ava (or Ami) in the bar was the complete opposite. The level of service was extremely disappointing and well below what I would expect from a hotel of this calibre. She could certainly take a lesson or three from Stuart and Shaun, who demonstrate what excellent hospitality and customer service should look like. Overall, there are some clear areas for improvement, particularly with the rooms and consistency of service. I look forward to returning once the refurbishment is complete and seeing the hotel brought back to the standard its staff members like Stuart and Shaun clearly strive to deliver."
