"For the price €103, it absolutely wasn't worth it. It is situated in the middle of nowhere. You have to arrange your breakfast yourself for the next morning. The only thing you get in the evening before, is a bag with bread and some marmelade. The fridge is hardly filled and you have to make your thea or coffee yourself. Besides the awfull smell in the sleepingroom it is an accomodation far beyond nowadays standards. We thought we had become in a horror movie of the worst kind."

"We had a very good 2 night stay at Le Grand HÎtel de l'Espérance in Lisieux. The room was basic but very clean and practical. They still provided a kettle and tea and coffee. A mini fridge would have been nice though. The bathroom had shower only but it had a good amount of storage space. We had one dinner in their restaurant which was good and good value for money. The service was good and efficient, even though the restaurant was full and only one person serving. The breakfast was excellent. They had 2 Camembert style cheeses, Emmental, spicy sausages as the hot option, hard boiled eggs, good quality cold cooked ham, good grilled ham, yoghurt, croissants, 2 types of homemade cake, fruit salad, and one of the best apple pies we have ever eaten. The selection was constantly replenished. The people at the reception very friendly and professional. If we were to visit Lisieux again, we would stay there again."
