Absolutely Wonderful Stay! We had a fantastic experience staying here! The location is perfect—right in the city centre and easily accessible, which made getting around so convenient. Judith, the owner, is such a lovely and welcoming host. She was incredibly kind, helpful, and full of useful information about the area, she even have us a map marking all the sightseeing places we wanted to see. You can really tell she cares about her guests. The rooms were huge, clean, and very comfortable—much more spacious than I expected! I also appreciated the little touches, like the free toiletries provided in case you forget anything, and the fact that there’s a kitchen available for use, which made the stay even more convenient. Would absolutely recommend and would definitely stay here again!

Very nice location in the centre of Budapest, near all the main attraction and 1min away from the station Astoria. The host of the hotel Judit and her collegue are very nice and helpful. They are literally one call away if you need something! The hotel is an old building but don't judge it from the outside! We had a wonderful and spacious room with a big window that makes the room very luminous. Highly recommended, we will be back here if we happen to come back to Budapest!

Spacious twin room and access to a well-stocked kitchen. The apartment was very convenient, and it was easy to access public transport and see the sights. It was also very quiet at night, so we slept well. Judit was a great host. A great place to stay in Budapest, I would heartily recommend it.

Excellent location and just a few steps away from Astoria subway station (the bus to and from the aiport passes right by it). Judi is an outstanding manager and she will give you great tips on places to see and things to do in this great city.

Everything was great here. Judit was a very hospitable host and the apartment was nicely prepared. The bed is comfortable and there is also a sofa, desk and full kitchen - all you need for a short stay. Everything was clean and the location was fantastic - next to the Astoria M2 metro station and close to Ferenciek Tér M3. Despite the city centre location the apartment was quiet and you can’t hear much road noise. A really nice 4 day stay overall 😀

I could stay here so comfortable.The hotel owner and her partner were very very helpful and kindness. They taught me Budapest sightseeing even though I send rude emails and I couldn’t speak English very well. It’s my first time to stay the hotel which like airb. The wall of these rooms was thin.I could hear noises from next room and also I made noises too. That is the only point of concern.

Consigliato a chi non ha il sonno leggero

Ho soggiornato presso il Gaia Astoria per tre notti nel mese di ottobre 2025 e l’esperienza è stata complessivamente positiva. La proprietaria è accogliente e si percepisce facilmente la passione che mette nel suo lavoro. La stanza scelta era la deluxe, con bagno privato. Molto ampia, ben pulita e dotata di un letto comodo. In bagno è disponibile una gamma di prodotti che solitamente non si trovano in questa tipologia di struttura: oltre ai classici shampoo e bagnoschiuma, anche spray per capelli, creme da barba e altro ancora. La posizione dell’hotel è ideale per spostarsi facilmente per la città, sia a piedi che in metro (la stazione Astoria, collegata ai principali punti di interesse, si trova a pochissimi passi). Molto comoda anche la presenza di un supermercato Aldi a un paio di numeri civici di distanza. L’unica pecca è l’insonorizzazione, pressoché assente. Si tratta di uno stabile storico e gli anni si sentono. Inoltre, le stanze sono tutte comunicanti (le porte centrali sono state bloccate da chiavistelli o mobili) e si dispongono tutte attorno al salone, unica zona comune utilizzata anche per accogliere gli ospiti e comunque di passaggio per chiunque desideri entrare/uscire dalla struttura o andare in cucina. Nel complesso, se l’insonorizzazione non rappresenta un problema, è senz’altro consigliato.

perfect location and great place to stay

I had a great stay at Gaia hostel, lovely big clean room and easy access to the bathrooms. Judit is a fantastic host, really friendly with great suggestions about where to visit. The hostel itself is in a fantastic location, right by Astoria so easy to get on transport and easy to walk around the Pest area.

Great location

Great location in the inner city. The upscale tourist places are toward the river, while the entertainment district is inland. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are comfortable, although not soundproof.

It was hot but still enjoyed it overall.

Wonderful staff. The hostel is small and it's on the 4th floor of an old building but there is an elevator. Despite the fact that it's small we didn't really run into the other guests and never had to wait for showers or toilets which was good. The only thing our double room was small and didn't have air con and it was around 36 degrees when we went so sometimes had trouble sleeping because it was too hot. There was a small fan thing that didn't work so we left the windows open which made it loud and still didn't really help cause no breeze blew in and the bathrooms got really hot. Though it's really close to the metro and to shops and supermarkets. The bus from the airport drops you off just around the corner so it's handy. And they let us check out late which was awesome.

The manager/owner did everything she could to make my stay comfortable and memorable. It is clear that many people return here again and again. Of course, there is no AC, so people using it in summer are taking a chance that it is not too hot. It was fine while I was there, 85 F in the day 65 F at night.
