  • Let me preface these discoveries by saying that I ended up in Calella haphazardly. It is not necessarily a town that I would generally recommend. It is not your traditional Spanish/Catalan dream destination. It very much looks like something the 70's spit out and no one ever bothered to clean up. With that said, I freaking love this little freakish town, which I quickly & affectionately nicknamed "The Twilight Zone." The strangest occurrences happened throughout the month, yes MONTH, I lived in Calella. Apparently since the 70's, Calella, was a booming tourist destination for Western Europeans and the British. It has been on a massive decline over the past decade. What's left behind though are some fun Dutch and English/Irish pubs, a small welcoming expat community, and one of the most incredible beaches you will ever lay your eyes on. Beautiful clean white sand for miles and crystal clear turquoise water. Parties & bars on the beach, some free concerts in the summer time and of course drinking it allowed as well. If you happen to find yourself here, you must stop in at Beach Boys Club, tell the owners, Brian & Cathy, that Amber sent you. Then hit up Brian for his secret stash of American imported Budweiser (Did you know the bottled stuff is always produced in country? Brian believes the secrets in the water, so he gets the cans from the US. Brian is British, which makes this little story even better.) Also, be prepared to eat a lot of rotisserie chicken.

lovely resort but the hotel was not good

Calella was lovely would recommend it for a quiet relaxing stay. Mostly families and young couples. The hotel needs a lot of updating though, would not return to it. No fridge in the room. Towels were changed but toilet and bath were not cleaned at all during our stay. Furniture was sparse and dated. Food was bland and using worst ingredients. No good fruit and not many options for young kids. High chairs all had problems with straps that don't work. Pipes noisy could not sleep. Cleaning ladies start moving their trolleys 7.30am making god awful noise in the corridors. No wi fi in room only at the bar.

its very noisy, food was very bad

we stay in this hotel from 27 of August for 7night. hotel was very clean, staff in front disc were very nice and helpful, two good swimming pools. BUT room was very small, toilet didn't have any incalation and smell and steam was in our room all the time, food wasn't very nice AND you have to pay for any drink water too during lunch, dinner. it was very noisy during night day. it wasn't short walk to beach if you want to be back to hotel for lunch. it was very busy beach windy and deep. ham not recommended this hotel at all.

If you want "Spain", don't go here

We stayed as little time as we possibly could. Horrible place full to the front door of English-themed bars, horrible room on 7th floor, overlooking an even more horrible place! It was clean however, and the breakfast was varied and good quality. But that was as good as it got. We stayed 12 hours...

Schönes Hotel, nah am Strand.

Gut gelegenes Hotel, jedoch könnte der Check out später sein ( wir mussten um 10Uhr aus dem Zimmer und und um 16.30Uhr kam erst der bus.

Только вернулись из замечательной поездки в Калелью! Очень понравился отель"Президент". В отеле очень чисто, номер убирают каждый день ! Обычный стандартный номер,но для отдыха есть все,что нужно. Питание отличное,каждый день новое меню. Бывают национальные дни. Очень приветливые официанты,очень было приятно общаться со всеми,но особенно с Ивонн. А Вера на ресепшен просто СУПЕР!!! Обязательно поедем в чудесную Калелью ещё раз и только в отель "Президент"!

Nice ***hotel.

Thin walls between the rooms, I could hear my neighbours television. The hallways have a hard floor and walls: quite noisy. Further good simple rooms, good beds and bathroom. Good swimming pool. Neighbourhood with a lot of touristic bars etc

L'hôtel est plutôt sympa, bien situé et propre mais si vous y allez pour vous reposez .... en effet l'hôtel est mal insonorisé et vous entendez tout ce que vos voisins font.

Sommerferie for storfamilie i alder 3-55 år, med hovedvekt unge voksne. Vi hadde halvpensjon, noe som vi synes er perfekt for en blandet forsamling. Veldig fornøyd med maten, og særlig den rikholdige middagsbuffeten som hver dag kunne tilby noe for enhver smak tross repeterende ukesmeny. Servicemindede og hyggelige personale på alle nivåer. Fornøyd med kveldsunderholdningen for små og store, 3-åringen satte stor pris på minidisco. Grei avstand til stranda, gågater og off. Kommunikasjon. For ungdommene var det et aktivt uteliv kveldstid, og positivt i den sammenheng var god lydisolasjon på rommet ut mot gatestøyen. Absolutt et sted å reise tilbake til på familietur.

Stayed 5 nights for IM Barcelona. Hotel was fairly basic, but i knew this when booking. It was clean, the shower / bathroom had recently been re-furbed and the staff were helpful.

excellent séjour, hormis le personnel du bar qui vend des glacons 50 cents. Sinon le buffet était parfait et les chambres très bien, les transats confortables et la chambre d'hotel impeccable.Il manque un frigo pour le lait des enfants. Merci

Séjour de trois jours à l'occasion du grand prix moto de Barcelone. Hôtel impeccable,mais confort de la chambre un peu juste avec des petits lits;et la difficulté pour se garer à proximité.

Lovely hotel, 10 minute walk from the beach.

The staff were very helpful and made sure we could get a meal even though the restaurant was due to close. All meals are buffet style and the serving area does become a little congested when the hotel is full. There is a good variety and I found it particularly healthy with lots of fresh salad and fruit at every meal. On the whole good value for money.

Very well run and friendly hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay at the President. It has some sensible rules, such as no food and glass around the pool, and no reserving of loungers - not that it was an issue in October. The pool area was great. The bar area was great. The restaurant was great and the food was absolutely excellent. The rooms, and indeed the entire hotel was spotlessly clean - a real credit to the cleaning staff. The serving and front of house staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. I found it to be a hotel with high standards, yet very friendly and welcomming.
