"Great hotel.
Only complaint is they add a mandatory gratuity to a “complementary” buffet style breakfast with no one attending the table and everything is self service.
I don’t mind tipping, but when you have mandated tipping, you do not encourage good customer service, because they are guaranteed a gratuity and they do not have reason to do more than is required by their employer.
I still believe gratuities (tips) are for services rendered, not for tips expected.
That being said I did not have a negative experience other than the waiter asked if I had been there before and when I said yes, he just said “well then you know what to do” and walked away.
Funny thing is when we checked in, the guy at the counter told us there was a 5 dollar charge for breakfast , then said next week they are not charging that fee because it upsets people staying there. I then I asked, then why are still charging the gratuity and he didn’t say.
Normally I would have tipped more than $4.99, but since they didn’t nothing except pick up my plates after I left, I didn’t see a reason to have left anything. I understand the prices are going up everywhere but don’t advertise a Free Breakfast when you charge 4.99. It is not a free breakfast. The description at booking should state “fees apply.”
Other than that small complaint, The hotel is nice, food was good and the view is great. "
