Great place to stay

We had a very comfortable stay at The Maltsters. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was very good - both breakfast and evening meals. Would definitely stay here again.

Good service from all the staff and easy parking. Strong pub ambience and good breakfast food. Very helpful and proactive to alert me to a couple of items left behind which were posted immediately. Thank you! Would orefer a room not on the staircase in future stays and thought the price was pretty heavy for the actual offering.

Pub hotel in Llandaff

Great little hotel in Llandaff with very friendly and helpful staff. We had a large, comfortable room. On-site parking was very convenient.

For an overnight stay it was a good experience. The staff involed in every aspect of our stay was welcoming, friendly and professional. We enjoyed the food, which was well presented, tasty, was a decent portion and served in a timely manner. The cocktails was fantastic.

Top Pub and B & B

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Malsters Arms. Fabulous place to stay. Such a vibrant place to eat and drink. The food is fabulous and there's a great selection to choose from. Great ale too. The rooms are well laid out and very tasteful. They are lovely and quiet too, had a great sleep. Breakfast is great too. Most definitely recommend staying.

Fantastic set of rooms attached to a pub, but 4* rating. My room had air conditioning and an amazing power shower. I had two loverly evening meals. Staff were very friendly, couldn’t fault the place. I will be back 👏👍

The Malsters

It was a very pleasant stay in Llandaff for a couple of days. The room was comfortable, good value for money and food was available at an extra cost. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I had no issues with my stay and I would be happy to stay there again.

Ideal base for visiting Cardiff and surrounds .

My 3 day visit to Cardiff and surrounding area had been on my wish list for many years and having noted that parking in the City Centre was a problem and expensive I booked to stay at The Maltsters Arms as it offered free parking on site . In addition I wanted to visit St Fagans a short drive away and Llandaf Cathedral a mere 5 minute. walk .This proved to be ideal and my stay was most comfortable and enjoyable . The duty manager during my stay was Chris who was excellent and attentive and I would certainly stay there again on any future visit to Cardiff .

The staff was very rude to me. I stayed at the hotel part but also decided to have my dinners at the restaurant. The first time I had dinner, a server told me that I get a 15% discount because I was staying at the hotel. The second time I returned, another server told me there was no discount. She was very rude, doubted what I said, and insisted that it wasn’t possible. After checking, she realized I was right—but she never apologized. It made me feel uncomfortable and left me with a bad impression. In addition, the room was dirty and very dark. It is very far from downtown, so you have to take Uber all the time, and there is a lot of traffic. Sometimes it took me 30-40 minutes by Uber to downtown. I would not recommend this place, and I would never stay there again.

A short break in Cardiff.

The hotel is in a great location with shops and restaurants just across the road and a short walk to the river, plus with the bus stop right outside getting to the city centre was easy too. The bed was comfy and an excellent breakfast made it a refreshing stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice but not perfect.

I stayed at the Maltsters Arms earlier in the year and enjoyed my stay. I was greeted by a charming lady (with bright red hair) who showed me to my room and exclaimed that it was her favourite. Unfortunately, whilst an excellent size and plenty of facilities, the room was a little disappointing. The bathroom needed some refurbishment: a rusty grab handle, noisy fan and protruding screws. No bottles of bodywash or shampoo for the bath. No soap. The room also suffers from noise from the room above. Next time I will make sure to book a room on the first floor. Apart from the niggles, I advise that you book a table if you wish to eat as the restaurant gets busy. The lower area of the restaurant is used for a quiz night on Tuesdays which restricts the dining area even more. Excellent breakfast and, once again, served by pleasant staff. I would definitely return.
