"The villa was more tired looking than photos show (turf around pool coming away, two immovable small parasols versus the large white ones in photos, shower doors loose on the hinges, freezer shelves taped and one drawer broken, no green awning covers by pool as shown in photos). We also thought we had access to extra bedrooms as listed in the booking but these seemed to be in a locked separate cabin on arrival. Salvador was brilliant at responding to messages but there was no guest book and so all questions that came up had to be asked via WhatsApp. Things like where to put recycling, location of switch for lights near pool, wifi code, would have been very helpful in a guest guide. We found out about the ‘reasonable use’ policy of electricity from reviews prior to booking (and were charged around €90 euros extra for our electricity use), the listing says AC included but all of them were on 2 hour timers which meant waking up in the night to switch them back on when waking up hot. We also had a huge problem with wasps whenever eating outside with two of our group getting stung! All that aside, the kids loved the pool and play area, the outdoor cooking set up and dishwasher worked great for our evening meals, and there was a beautiful view from the pool area."

"The rooms are basic but very reasonably priced and very clean, with aircon and storage for clothes, just what you need! Breakfast at 6euros/person was lovely and served to you in your room. We ate out on our room balcony with breathtaking panoramic views of the castle and surrounding mountains. Lots of hot water, clean fresh towels (daily if required) and shampoo supplied. TV in the room and a full size fridge so you can easily self-cater if you are travelling on a budget. Rooms are so reasonably priced! Our hosts could not do enough for us very helpful, knowledgeable and informative. Hostal Duran is right at the edge of the bustling village, filled with cafe's, bars restaurants (tapas was a favourite for us) and shops. There is also a very clean outdoor public swimming lane pool and a leisure pool, with the fabulous mountains for a back drop at 2euros/person(cash only for the pool). A couple of parks for younger kids, a winery for the adults, a selection of clothes and souvenir shops, a local pharmacy and a high street bank. Great air conditioned direct train link to Malaga Central and a regular local bus service (cash only for the bus). Local taxi drivers are a fountain of knowledge. Andalusia is the home of flamenco steeped in history with hidden gems such as Alora, a must see!"

"Absolutely delighted with our stay. The rooms were clean and had good storage with toiletries and plenty of plug sockets etc. The air con was great :) Oliver was amazing, super helpful with tips and reccomendations as well as greeting us each morning with a yummy breakfast. The pool and garden is so nice to relax in amongst days of exploring the local area. We had a car hire but the train stop is around the corner. So many positives. We would love to stay again, it had everything we needed and with it only being half an hour or so from Malaga airport you cant go wrong. We went to Ronda, sentenil de la bodega, the caminito del rey during our stay. There is plenty more to see and do! 😃 This place is a hidden gem"

"Fantastic house with amazing views of the town, the castle and beyond. Very spacious, with everything we needed for our stay, and in a great position to walk to shops, bars and restaurants. It was very hot when we stayed so we greatly appreciated the air conditioning! The terrace was a lovely place to relax, watching the swifts swooping around during the day and looking at the stars at night (and listening to the local cockerels competing with each other to be the loudest!). Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again - highly recommended."

"The swimming pool was amazing. The garden had different areas so good for finding the sun and we loved the bar and barbecue area.There was a big conservatory which allowed our party of 16 (8 adults 8 children) to enjoy a special meal in a spacious area."

"The lovely owners Pepe and Isabel met us at the house, showed us around, and explained how everything worked. The property is beautiful, with a fantastic pool area and gorgeous gardens that are very well maintained, and a lovely farm area with fruit trees. The house was spotlessly clean and everything we needed was provided for (no oven but an outdoor kitchen so we could bbq meat instead). Plenty of options for making a morning coffee or tea, which is always important! Great location for morning runs too - either up to Alora for a hilly run, or over the bridge behind to the villages/along the river for a run on the flat. Local people were all very friendly. Great location - shops and restaurants in Alora were walking distance up the hill, and the village just over the pedestrian bridge behind had small supermarkets. Some good restaurants nearby with lovely food too. Great hosts, stunning property, great location - I highly recommend."
