The four spacious bedrooms (for maximum 8 guests) on the first floor are true gems, each adorned with hand-painted furniture and featuring original wooden beams and floors.
Each room offers maximum comfort with air conditioning and a private bathroom with a hydromassage tub.
The ground floor reveals the historic soul of the mansion: in the main hall, the ancient rice-milling stones blend harmoniously with the furnishings. Beautiful spot

Incredibly lovely spot in this old complex of a castle. The mill is spacious and cool in the heat- just lovely. Gardens are splendid especially the access across the yard to the river. All bedrooms are huge and between them would swallow up 10 people easily, along with the massive communal area. Each room has enough space to work, if you wished. Plenty of outside seating too. Locally there is an excellent shop, two bars and a wine shop/ wine bar which opens at weekends, and a pizzeria ( fun on a Saturday- try it!). All are one minute walk. Various wineries in walking/ bike distance. Incredibly easy access to sea and mountains. We have been to Venezia and Ljubljana before so skipped these for Trieste on the train but all are easy distance. The train, 10 mins by car, can get you to all of them at low cost and no parking! Host and lovely caretaker lady were absolutely lovely and helpful. I’ve stayed in a lot of Italian properties and this was the most characterful and well placed. May come again. Oh and Udine and Gorizia are beautiful.

Uniek verblijf

De locatie van het verblijf zorgt voor unieke reiservaring. De tuin is prachtig, gigantisch en volledig omheind wat een groot voordeel was voor onze hond. Nidia stond ter plekke steeds klaar voor ons en Gabriella stond ons via whattsapp bij. De bedden zijn zeer confortabel en dankzij de airco is het binnen aangenaam koel.

The house was truly extraordinary. For a start, the location is exceptional. It's like staying in a piece of history, and actually you do. The stream rushing past the mill, the romantic garden (more like a small park), picturesque streets ...The house itself is decorated with great attention to historical details; the rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, with good beds and air-conditioned, bathrooms in classic style but with modern technology (whirlpool baths).The welcome was also warm, with freshly baked bread. Always there was a quick and warm response to our questions. Don't hesitate, just book.

A Dream Vacation in Strassoldo - Unforgettable Stay at the Rice Mill

We had the most wonderful summer vacation staying at the beautiful old rice mill in Strassoldo Castle. It was our second time there, and it was the perfect setting for our family of six. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.The house itself is beautifully restored and tastefully decorated, with a perfect balance of historic charm and modern comfort. The four bedrooms are incredibly comfortable, each thoughtfully furnished – and the absolute luxury is that every bedroom has its own private bathroom, which made our stay even more relaxing and convenient.The garden was simply breathtaking, a peaceful oasis where we spent many relaxing moments. But what truly made our stay unforgettable were the hosts, Gabriella and Nidia. They are such warm-hearted, kind people who went above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as possible. They took care of all our needs with incredible care and attention, always with a smile and a positive attitude.Gabriella’s genuine passion for making her guests feel at home is remarkable. You can truly feel how much she cares about creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Ruim en comfortabel huis in prachtig kasteelcomplex

Zeer plezierig verblijf met hartelijke ontvangst en een plezierige omgeving. De kasteeltuinen liggen aan je voeten en zijn prachtig om van te genieten. Belangrijk voor de kinderen: prima internetverbinding. Het kasteelcomplex is echt een plaatje om te zien en het is mooi om te zien dat dit met hart en ziel wordt onderhouden door de mensen die er wonen en werken. Prima voorzieningen voor zo’n klein dorp. Om de hoek meerdere trattoria en een smakelijke pizzeria.

One of the best experiences of my life

This property is in a little town in Northern Italy that we chose so we could get to Trieste, Venice, Croatia and Slovenia all is less than one hour driving. The accommodations were so authentic and very well appointed. We loved the small village, the restaurants there as well as the winery. We will definitely stay there again when we return to Italy. We all loved the home and the people that ran it. Such a beautiful and safe environment.

Perfect setting for exploring the wine country!

The rice mill house was perfect for our group of three couples. Everyone had their own bed and bath plus a huge living room and adquate kitchen for breakfast. The outdoor space in the garden was particulary nice.

Perfect Authentic Italy Get Away

Wonderful, unique (in the best way) stay. The Rice Mill exceeded our expectations. It was clean, cool, and larger than expected. We expected it to be a bit hot, but between the air conditioner and stone building, it was cool on the hottest day of the summer. Gabriella speaks perfect English, and was a wonderful, communicating host. The place is situated close to many great spots, including a train ride to Venice or Triest. Highly recommend!

Beschreibung auf Fewo trifft voll zu. Das wunderbare Haus liegt in ruhiger Lage. Insbesondere der großartige Schlosspark machte den Aufenthalt auch an heißen Tage sehr erträglich. Vom Trubel an der Küste ist nicht zu spüren. Aber wer will kann in 30 Minuten in Grado oder in 40 Minuten in Triest sein. Die Schlossherrin ist gern bereit etwas über die Geschichte von Strassoldo zu erzählen - wenn man möchte.

Wir durften ein langes Wochenende in Strassoldo verbringen. Die Unterkunft ist im Schlossgelände mit Zugang zum Park etc. Gebäude wie auch Lage ist perfekt. Ich kann dies nur Jedem empfehlen. Die Betreuung ist top und die Gastgeberin spricht perfekt Deutsch..

una vacanza indimenticabile

è veramente indimenticabile il nostro soggiorno a Strassoldo al punto che non vediamo l'ora di tornarci.Siamo un gruppo di 5 amici che ha occupato tutta la struttura per otto giorni.Oltre all'ampiezza degli ambienti,la cura dei dettagli,la ricchezza di accessori e complementi,siamo stati colpiti dalla serenità del posto e dall'atmosfera che regna nel borgo.La vicinanza di trattorie tipiche raggiungibili anche in bicicletta è impagabile.Le gite quotidiane,da Spilimbergo a Grado,da Udine a Muggia riempiono le giornate di esperienze storiche,artistiche,paesaggistiche e gastronomiche.Veramente una bella esperienza da ripetere!

A Gorgeous,Tranquil Retreat, Full of History and Character

Ten of our family and friends spent a week at Castello Strassoldo, which is a gorgeous property that Gabriella has lovingly restored and maintained. We rented both the Rice Mill and Casa la Vicinia. All of our guests loved their rooms - which were beautifully decorated and featured well-appointed private bathrooms. Because of a recent local zoning change, one of the bedrooms in Casa la Vicinia was unable to be used, so Gabriella kindly offered the Tower Room in the castle. Our two friends who shared that space were blown away by its beauty. It also had a sitting room and a huge walk-in shower. They truly raved about it! Our friend who stayed in Casa La Vicinia was impressed with her lodging, and wished she could stay the entire week. We cooked and spent most of our group time at dinner in the Rice Mill, which was a wonderful space to spread out and enjoy our time together. The outdoor patio also was lovely, and overlooked gorgeous grounds and a pond. There were birds, butterflies and flowers everywhere! One of the last nights of our stay was our wedding anniversary. Gabriella offered to cater our celebration, and she and Nidia spent two days preparing our wonderful meal. She offered the use of the castle main room and patio, which she decorated with fresh-cuts flowers and candles. It was gorgeous! The food was delicious, and Tomasz made lovely prosecco cocktails. Gabriella typically does not cater events, so this was a very generous gesture - especially because she had hurt her back earlier that week and was in considerable pain. Grazie, Gabriella! Nidia was wonderful, and our main contact at the Rice Mill. She is a warm, caring and helpful person. She helped make our stay memorable - especially because she bonded so closely with my mother-in-law, who grew up in Trieste and was returning to this region for the first time in more than 50 years. Castello Strassoldo is a very special place, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to other travelers. You will experience a true piece of Italy, with genuine, warm, hospitality.
