What a gem

A lovely stay. Clean, comfortable and spacious room. Lovely size balcony with a lovely view overlooking the pool and down towards the sea and Chania. Brilliant pool area with loungers, Good choice at breakfast very tasty. Great friendly hosts would stay again if returning to the area

Greek Hospitality

First off, this hotel is in one of the most perfect locations in Chania. There is a bus stop within walking distance from it, and it takes 10-15 minutes to get downtown. The hotel staff made me feel so welcomed and comfortable throughout my entire stay. I will be back in Chania and I will be staying here again. Highly recommended.

Best welcome!

We arrived late but given such a warm welcome - along with welcome drinks brought to the 2nd floor deck. That attitude continued throughout our 2 night stay. Our room was spacious, clean, great a/c. We enjoyed the pool both days. Breakfast had lots of options. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Nice hotel close to Chania Airport

We had a short stay here while exploring the West side of Crete. We were able to check in late (fortunately its quite close to the airport), the breakfast was good and had a great variety, and we enjoyed the pool. Cell reception was not great but the wifi helped make up for that. We decided to eat by the pool and tried the gyros pizza- it was amazing (so much so we decided to stop by and order it again before flying out of Crete). The staff and owner were very nice and accommodating.

Very friendly staff

This is an excellent hotel. We stayed for three nights and the best thing was the staff- being a family run business the staff was small. Helen was exceptionally amiable and warm and made the stay. On arrival. she greeted us with a mass of maps and plans, recommendations on where to go, eat etc. She was also kind enough to upgrade our rooms for free, as well as allow us to checkout at any time. The rest of the family were equally as friendly. I recommend this hotel to any holiday makers.

The calm before the storm

Nice relaxing location with easy bus access to the centre of chania. Also easy access to stavros beach which was great with convenient lounger service for drinks, snacks etc. This part of our holiday was to charge the batteries for the second part with our very active 3yo grandson. We had a great time

Relaxing and friendly family environment

Eleni and all the staff at Monte Vardia could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Right from when we made the booking in March, Eleni provided really excellent and helpful advice to help with our preparations. Our stay was very relaxing, and the hotel accommodated any and every request with a smile. The food was great - quite a basic breakfast bar, but still sufficient choice, and the option of fresh Greek yoghurt or eggs and bacon, all freshly prepared. Lunch and dinner dishes were all excellent, with no disappointments on quality or quantity. The hotel is a little outside Chania, so a hire car is recommended. But its location makes it peaceful, and there are fabulous views over Chania town and beyond. Some of the fixtures and fittings in the hotel seem a little dated, but that didn't matter at all. The pool was fabulous, never crowded and always clean.

Very nice place to stay

The hotel staff, at front desk, in the restaurant or elsewhere are sincerely friendly and helpfull. They really made us feel welcome. Our hotelroom was comfortable, spacious and clean. The breakfast is very good with a wide range of choices. Eggs, are made freshly every morning, just the way you want them. You can enjoy your breakfast inside the restaurant or outside in the shade next to the swimming pool. The second floor has a communal terrace with a great view over Chania and the sea.

Quiet hotel, exceptional staff

We stayed at this lovely hotel for 11 nights and it was pure relaxation. It's away from the crowds of chania town so unless you hire a car then it's a good walk to most places. Eleni and her family are the most wonderful hosts and made us feel so very welcome. This hotel comes highly recommended on all counts

Un excellent séjour

Accueil très chaleureux. Accès en ville, aux plages et à la route nationale aisés. Vue magnifique de notre chambre sur la baie de Hania. Une vaste terrasse est aussi disponible pour tout le monde avec cette vue. La contrepartie de celle-ci, c'est un emplacement sur un axe passant en surplomb de la ville. Service en chambre de bonne qualité. Une grande et très belle piscine, pas envahie par les touristes qui y squattent toute la journée. Un hôtel d'un excellent rapport qualité prix pour visiter durant quelques jours Hania et l'ouest de la crête.

SHOULD BE A F0UR STAR HOTEL

Great Location about 10 min ride to Olde Town and less than 15 min to airport. Very friendly and helpful staff who helped me plan a do yourself hike of Sameria Gorge. Our room was immaculately clean and even had a tub in the bathroom. Very large swimming pool in great surroundings with trees for shade. Breakfast was wonderful and extensive and the hotel was a great value. My wife and I definitely look forward to a return visit.

Nice family hotel 10 minutes from airport

Stayed just for 1 night after late arrival to Chaniá airport. Were welcomed nicely with bottles of water and little snacks for the kids in the room. The owner showed us a few nice cafes around which would be open till 3-4am! Probably would not stay there for a long time as it is in a quiet location, but it's perfect for 1-2 nights stay if you want to be 10 minutes from the airport, bur still enjoy Cretan hospitality!

Un grand plaisir de séjourner à l'hôtel Monte Vardia. Bien situé sur les hauteurs de la Canée, l'hôtel est sympathique avec une belle piscine et très bien tenu. Bon prtit dej complet avec omelette, yaourt au miel,... Mention spéciale à la responsable qui est charmante. Des petites attentions et beaucoup de bienveillance. On s'y sent très bien.

Perfect Hotel

Monte Vardia is the perfect hotel to get away from everything. Rooms are comfortable, breakfast is lovely and the pool, well most days we had it to ourselves. Eleni and the rest of the family are perfect hosts and will give you tips on where to go and how to get there. Drinks at the hotel are ridiculously cheap too and their 'French fries' on the menu are actually home made chips. Yummy. We stayed here and in an hotel in Chania Old Town itself. Monte Vardia was far more relaxing and you can easily catch a bus into the old town in the evening to eat, 2.50€ and a taxi back was only 7€ I'd go back in a heartbeat

Per noi un piacevole ritorno.

Vista la prima positiva esperienza,fatta nel 2009,abbiamo deciso di tornare in questa struttura. L'hotel è situato su una collina a circa 3 km da Chania,dotato di una grande piscina,parcheggio privato. Le camere da noi utilizzate erano arredare con gusto e dotate di aria condizionata e wi fi gratuito,cassaforte e frigo. Quando la propietaria,Eleni,ha saputo che il nostro era un ritorno ci ha fatto trovare in camera un cestino di frutta e alla nostra partenza una scatola di dolcetti locali. Al quarto piano è presente una terrazza comune con vista sulla città,molto gradevole al tramonto. Colazione nella norma,migliorabile,ma superiore agli standard greci (uova fritte con bacon fatte fresche a richiesta e spremuta d'arancia fatta al momento). Personale molto educato e disponibile. Se in possesso d'auto,vivamente consigliato.

Quiet, chilled out

Very cosy hotel just outside of Chania. Easy links to the main town, close to the airport and walking distance to 4 cafe bars, a mini market and a bakery. Nice to be out of the busy town and look down over the harbour and buildings from the 2nd floor. The pool is great and the hotel staff go out of their way to help you. Really easy to get into the town via bus/taxi, would recommend.
