Nellie's Barn, Naunton, Bourton-on-the-Water

  • Nellie’s Barn is a spacious conversion set amongst the most stunning landscape in the Cotswolds. Nestling in the Windrush Valley (The Windrush Way is quite literally on the doorstep), the barn offers the utmost peace and tranquillity with the Cotswold hotspots of Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Broadway as well as sophisticated Cheltenham all within easy striking distance.

    Full of charm and character the barn boasts full height ceilings with beautiful beams and a cosy wood burning stove. Both bedrooms are light and airy with thoughtful finishing touches such as fluffy robes hanging in the wardrobes and portable black-out blinds available on request.
    There are an abundance of walks from the doorstep and guest have access to the beautiful paddock complete with summer house overlooking the large duck pond – ideal for those long summer evenings as the sun sets

    All the daily activity of the farm takes place one and a half miles away so the only sounds you'll hear will be birdsong, deer barking and owls hooting. Not only a haven for wildlife, you’ll soon feel those workaday worries slipping away and children will delight in exploring the farm in complete safety.

    Nellie’s has many green credentials as the barn is powered by photovoltaic panels and heated by a biomass boiler using wood chip from their own trees and there’s always a new tree planting programme on the go.

    Please note this property has a capacity of four (plus one sleeping on a sofa bed).

    Additional Information
    Unlimited logs from the farm provided.
    A travel cot and high chair can be provided on request.
    Portable black-out blinds are available.
    Use of the sofa bed is at an additional charge of £40 per stay. The sofa bed can be added during the booking process.
    Use of stabling and grazing for your horse or pony is available for £20 per night, this can be added during the booking process.
    Dogs over the age of twelve months are more than welcome at Nellie’s Barn (small additional charge).
    The working farm is approximately 1.5 miles from the property. The owner's house is approximately 5 minutes walk from the property, where friendly farm dogs also reside.

We picked Nellies Barn as a great central location to explore the Cotswolds and it didn’t disappoint. Very good value for money and really practical layout with many of the creature comforts enjoyed at home.

Lovely and cozy cottage

We had a wonderful time at Nellie's barn! It is situated beautifully and very peaceful in the countryside. Deer, hares and birds all around. The house itself is very cozy and very clean. The beds are comfortable as well. The welcome basket was so nice and the house is very well equipped with everything you need. Debbie is also very kind and helpful. The only thing that needed replacement was the table outside.

A stunning hide-away

Nellie’s Barn is so cosy and comfortable and much more spacious than the photos suggest. We were 4 adults and 2 small dogs and there was plenty of space. The owners have thought of everything : there was a lovely welcome hamper and all the rooms are well appointed with some lovely homely touches. The kitchen has everything we required to dine in. Would highly recommend.

A Little Cotswolds Dream!

Such a wonderful few days at Nellie’s Barn. From the moment we arrived, it felt truly special. The countryside is quite literally on your doorstep, with the most beautiful views that instantly make you slow down and soak everything in. The barn itself is incredibly cozy, immaculately kept, and perfectly suited for family stays. It felt like a home away from home - warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully set up for both people and pets. The owner couldn’t have been more accommodating and genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. A truly lovely host and a magical place we’ll treasure - we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Great Christmas Break

Stayed here over Christmas and had a brilliant time. Such a lovely property and so well equipped and welcoming. The hamper provided was exceptional and very much appreciated. Our friends stayed nearby and joined us for Christmas Day & Boxing Day and were impressed with the accommodation and especially our hamper Our two dogs enjoyed their stay too.

Lovely barn in a peaceful location

We had a lovely week staying at Nellie’s Barn. Location was perfect for us and a short drive from everywhere we wanted to see. The welcome hamper on arrival was appreciated and Debbie was always on hand if we needed anything. Great peaceful location with walks from the door. My only comment would be that an extending duster should be considered to remove the established cobwebs in the barn but that wouldn’t put us off returning.

Wonderfully peaceful.

It’s the third time we’ve stayed at Nellie’s Barn and it still wraps us up in its tranquility and warmth. Debbie is a wonderful host and she goes above and beyond with the welcome hamper. For us it’s walks directly outside the door that we love. The barn is warm, cosy and beautifully clean, we will definitely keep going back. It’s our get away from it all go to place.

Beautiful Barn in fantastic setting

My first solo holiday since my husband passed away & I couldn’t have found a better place. Debbie was absolutely lovely, and on hearing my dog was a nervous rescue she ensured the farm dogs were kept away, going above and beyond to provide excellent customer care. The barn is beautiful, perfectly located for great walks. Unlimited logs for the log burner was a lovely extra touch.

A haven which is home from home

This was my second visit to Nellie's Barn. The cottage, facilities and location make this a very special place to visit. Being dog friendly is a bonus. Debbie is so supportive and welcoming which makes the stay so much more enjoyable. I feel from looking at other reviews she really is the key factor in it being so popular. Best holiday

We had an amazing time staying at Nellie’s Barn…could not have asked for anything better …great location and condition of the barn was very clean and comfortable in a quiet location in a farm setting. Thanks to Debbie for welcoming and assisting us patiently with our many demands. This is one place I definitely want to return …would recommend a relaxing 7 day break I/o short breaks as there is so much to see and do in Cotswold.

Another Great Stay

This was our second stay at Nellies barn. The location is amazing and our dog Pip loves it!!. The barn is finished to a very high standard with underfloor heating, log burner and all mod cons you could want. Despite being in a rural setting the Wi-Fi works well. As always there was a very nice welcome basket of goodies upon arrival (thank you Debbie). We will definitely be coming back for a third time in the future.

Countryside heaven !!!

We had an amazing week at Nellie’s barn. Only 10 minutes into Bourton on the water but totally secluded and peaceful. The barn is beautifully presented and Debbie supplied a very generous welcome basket of goodies. Our dog was in heaven especially having her own paddock to play in every morning. If you are looking for lots of great dog walks they are all on your doorstep here. We can’t wait to go back for another stay!!!

Away from it all

Excellent location, away from it all! Only disappointment was that there was no enclosed 'garden' to just let our two dogs out for early morning wee. There was a paddock but we had to walk the dogs to it, so property description slightly misleading. However would certainly visit again for the lovely walks from the property. The food hamper provided on arrival was a lovely touch and the cottage was very comfortable and well appointed.

Nellies Barn is the perfect place to relax, very quiet, as this is not the main working part of the farm. Very well equipped kitchen with a fabulous welcome hamper. Large Bedrooms with good storage space. Bathrooms all had shower mixers over the bath, which can be difficult to get the temperature to balance, could do with some grab rails as older members of a party did find it a little difficult getting in & out of the baths. Nice outside dining space. The biggest bonus was the paddock area about 100 yards from the cottage, which gave us a great area to exercise our dog which he really enjoyed. Overall an excellent holiday cottage.

EXCELLENT COTTAGE IN A SUPERB LOCATION

Probably the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Quiet farm location. Magnificent welcome hamper. Efficient under-floor heating + log burner. Bathrooms very good and well equipped kitchen. Easy to get to from M5 and easy to find - postcode takes you straight to the cottage. Well located in the Cotswolds - close to the Slaughters, Bourton-on-the-Water & Stow. 2 Dogs were fine. Karndean flooring throughout. Plenty of walking around the farm and drive. We will probably be back.

Excellent in every way.

We've stayed at AirB&Bs and rentals across the planet (though mostly in the USA) and have never come across one as well appointed, located, planned and provided for. An absolute pleasure to stay in. Walks from the barn? Check. Friendly dogs and people? Check. Gorgeous and well maintained building? Check. I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor and visit the Black Horse (the nearest pub) for delightful food and ambiance. Watch the deer and pheasants roam the fields from the pavilion overlooking the small pond. Light the fire and settle into the sofa. Top notch.

Feedback

We received a warm friendly welcome from the owner and much appreciated the welcome hamper but Nellies barn did not live up to expectations as the interior was a little dated and well used. Sadly most of the house needed a good clean as there were a large number of cobwebs in most rooms. We chose not to inform the owner as it would have taken up too much time out of the holiday to rectify so we used the vacuum ourselves.

Great Holiday Hideaway

I say Hideaway because of the somewhat remote location and the approach by way of single track roads, one of which is through a ford, easily manageable if the water is not running high. This ensures, however, utter peace and tranquility and we found it delightful. Hence our second return visit. The hostess is very considerate and leaves a more than ample welcome basket to see guests through breakfast the day after arrival. The barn is large and comfy, very well equipped, has two bedrooms and bathrooms, living room and loft with a sofa and shelves of books, TV’s, kitchen and eat-in area. The kitchen is very well equipped. Debbie, the owner, noticed we were not properly prepared for the very cold, windy and rainy weather which made the night-time concerts we were attending in a tent pretty uncomfortable, so she loaned me a vest/gilet and cardigans to keep me from freezing during the concerts until I could get to a shop to buy a cozy fleece.

Lovely!

We'd thoroughly enjoyed a stay at Nellie's Barn a few years ago; so when we planned a repeat visit to the area, Nellie's Barn was an obvious choice again. It's a lovely, spacious, well-equipped, well-presented hideaway - everything one could need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. Highly recommended. We're very glad that we went back - and when we're in the area again we'l be back at Nellie's Barn again. Just one thing... We've given a '3' rather than a '5' to the location. To explain... It's a long way from anywhere - there's no shop, pub or anything for several miles. That suited us down the the ground - we love peace and quiet! But if someone does't read descriptions properly and/or can't read a map, and if they think that they'll be in walking distance of all sorts of amenities, they might be disappointed. (But it would be their fault for not reading through things properly.)

Beautifully converted barn

What a lovely surprise when we entered this barn. My friend and I were so happy. The open plan kitchen and living room was huge and comfortable. If you had children, the mezzanine, with a collection of books, was great. The kitchen provided everything you would need, including some wonderful welcome hampers - cheese, butter, wine, milk, bread, assortment of treats. They even had a couple of trays of ice cubes! The beds were really comfortable and they provided bathrobes too! Each room had its own temp control and underfloor heating. They even provided blackout curtains to attach if needed and hairdryers and straighteners. Small bottles of shampoo, etc also provided. Guides to nearby walks were provided and you can walk to the nearby village of Naunton, and even Bourton-on-the-water, etc. I would definitely come back here.

Nellie’s Barn - excellent accommodation, superbly located for enjoying several lovely walks.

Spent a wonderful weekend here with our friends plus dogs. The property far exceeded our expectations - beautiful decor and spotlessly clean. A calm and peaceful location and a good base for exploring a variety of different walks. We loved the fact we could hike from the property to a variety of villages, pubs and cafes - would love to return in the future.
