This is our second visit to this hotel and we will return next time we are in Chester. The location with the Park & Ride next door is very handy for visiting the city. The large on site parking is ideal. Food purchased was very good. The pool of course is a bonus. All members of staff we met from the receptionists to the room attendants were friendly and professional. The only thing missing was a fridge in the room.

Room was clean and tidy , staff were welcoming and polite. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Spa was very good and we used all facilities. Overall we were very happy with our time at the hotel . Its position relative to Chester suited us as we like to walk and we walked the canal path that was only a few minutes away from the hotel. We went for breakfast at 9 am, it closed at 10 and the hot food that was out needed replenishing. What was there had been sitting a while. Staff in reception, spa and restaurant were excellent and the best part of the stay. The hotel needs updating, rusty pipes in the pool area, padlocks given to lock lockers, dated decor in rooms etc. It isn’t a 4* property.

Room was nice and spacious, very accommodating, breakfast had plenty of options the hash browns could do to be a bit more well done but otherwise it was good! There was an event on whilst we stayed there which could have been better organised so all the people attending the event stay at one part of the hotel so that drunk attendees weren’t shouting and screaming and playing loud music at 1am in the morning!

I have stayed at the Mercure several times this year and find it absolutely lovely..Good clean rooms, Stella Breakfast and very efficient and good natured staff. Spa is rather busy with swimming lessons in the day but peaceful after 7.30pm I would rate the hotel 5 star except that the bar food is poor. Overpriced, meagre standard and quality.. so bring your own sandwiches but certainly sign up for breakfast
