Liked: Staff & service
A lovely place to stay in Ashover. Staff were kind and friendly and the accomodation is quiet and comfortable, if a little lacking in detailed maintenance in places. But despite that, I should be happy to return in the future
We had a lovely welcome from the staff, the food was excellent and David really looked after us in the mornings. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we would highly recommend staying here.

Great Little Stay
Quick overnight stay with my wife and dog. Decent food and drink in a pleasant environment. The building is great! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was nice and comfortable.
The Old Poets Corner is perfect for a one night stay. It's in a quiet rural location but it was a travel stop for us. Rooms are clean and quiet, named after beers and you get complimentary beer in the room. Bathrooms are dated but clean.
Bedroom was clean and functional. Shower had engrained mould in the tiles. We were not told beforehand that there was a singer (of sorts) playing ruined any chance of an early night. Free wifi, was none functional. Food arrived within minutes and was poor. Were told we could order breakfast then text at midnight to say we couldnt.
Really good, and great value. Lovely setting, and great views from the pub garden and terrace. Good base for walks into Derbyshire, and great beers. Rooms are all themed to different Titanic beers, which is really quirky and nicely done. I was in Steerage, and the only negative comment was the very noisy water pump that goes off intermittently once or twice and hour through the night. Once you get used to the sound it was okay, but it does shock you a bit at first. If they could sort that, it would be great. Staff were welcoming and lovely. A hidden gem.
Lovely staff and tasty food, nice room although due to being above the pub noisy in the evenings. Mattress too soft and bouncy for my liking. No shop in the lical area
Pros- good location, good size room with really comfortable bed. Good value for money.
Cons- initial room was right above the loudest part of the pub so I asked if there were similar rooms available in a quieter location. The manager - Andy - so rude. Actually stunned by his treatment of me. Made what should have been a simple room swap really heated. I eventually got to change rooms and I'm so glad I did- the second room was ideal. But having Andy speak to me the way he did put me off staying again and I've told local friends my story so they're aware.
Such a shame - as a paying customer I expected much better.
Fantastic locals pub with lots of atmosphere, great food. Can't speak highly enough of the village of Ashover, and the surrounding area.
The rooms are a little small but its what you expect for a pub of that age.
Definately a 5 star stay.
its a titanic pub, so liked the range of real ales,
lovely village, everyone so friendly made you feel welcome, and two more pubs only few hundred yards away, crispen and black swan.
