All the staff at the Anglers Arms were lovely, they couldn’t do enough for you. All the food we had (3 breakfasts &. 1 dinner) was very good. The hotel is in need of some modernisation but we know that Joanne and the team are working on this, given a little time they will get everything right but in the meantime it is still a good place to stay and excellent value.
Staff helpful and friendly. Evening meal and breakfast good. Service could be quicker. We would return to the Anglers arms.

Cheep cheerful
This was cheep cheerful stay food really nice and breakfast very nice. Damp in room due to age property. Bet lovely place to stop in summer with walks down river. We was in room 2 very squeaky bed.
In desperate need of tlc throughout and it all felt very grubby. The food however was fantastic.

Initially there was a mix-up between Hotels.com and the hotel as after booking through the former, I rang the hotel on the day before and we were not registered. Fortunately, they managed to fit us in. The room was fairly clean and very quiet. The staff were very helpful and polite. We had a meal on the evening of our stay and, although the food was very good, the service was slow.
Overall, I felt the price was a little expensive at £100 with breakfast.
Clean the room had everything we needed( i didnt sleep well 1st night doors slamming and men talking very loud at 2am 2nd night i was too warm and 3rd night think i was just ready for my own bed ! :) , friendly staff especially Lauren and Aaron . The food was lovely and exellent value for money seen some complaints about waiting time but i dont understand why ?? We came to stay to do some geocaching walks around the area which we did still plenty more around so you may well see us again ! Thank you

1 night stay
The staff that checked us in were helpful and arranged a camp bed for the room. Thank you. However, the boiler was not working and there was no TV as no arial was plugged into the tv that worked. It was difficult to checkout the next morning as the door was locked at the bottom of the stairwell and had to wait almost 15 minutes until it was opened. The lady was not particularly pleasant and we were put off bu wanting to have breakfast as the restaursnt seemed unhygienic as well as an unpleasant odour.
Dirty room, walls and ceiling marks. Wall around light switch very dirty. Pillows stained. Carpet didnt fit , gaps round edge. internal restaurant door not opened for breakfast as should have been at 8.00 and no notes put on door to say go through pub front door, had to keep trying the door for over 40 minutes, as did other guesses. 1st night no mushrooms or onions rings as stated on the menu, breakfast no beans, 2nd breakfast nothing prepared. Had to ask for juice. No cerals. Totally unprofessional.
Das Hotel ist seit Anfang des Jahres geschlossen! Wir standen um 22.00 Uhr auf der Straße und mussten uns nachts noch ein Hotel organisieren!
Sorry geht gar nicht!
Hotel at Morpeth, Choppington was booked months ago for 3 people, 2adults one child. After travelling from South Wales (9hrs) arrived to find room wasn't ready! Lots of fussing about moving people around then 'don't think we've got another duvet). The whole pub plus staff looked grubby and the rooms shown had a very unclean smell. Needless to say we did not stay!! Very poor show indeed!!!
When we were shown to our room it was in a disgusting state as it had not been cleaned or made ready for our arrival. There was disgusting half finished dinner plates on the beds and it was just as the previous guests had left it. The bathroom was not cleaned and was stomach churning. There was only two staff on duty at a busy time with meals being served in the bar but they tried to explain this was all due to the room being missed off the cleaning rota for that day. We did however speak to a couple of guests we bumped into who said they had exactly the same experience the day before but without the dinner plates. I should also add that the bar was very dingy with sticky tables and we were told that that we were unlikely to get a table for our evening meal ! I don't think this place complied with any Covid guidelines..
There was no way we could possibly stay here and after much searching we found a room in Morpeth hotel for one night. We then had to search again to find a room at a Premier Inn at Newcastle Airport for our remaining two nights and what a difference in cleanliness and well trained polite staff.
I managed to secure a full refund at the Anglers Arms.
This was a very unhappy start to our short break away and thank god for Premier Inns for saving the rest of our trip.
When we arrived the staff did not have our booking and had to find us a room. The outside space and picnic area was littered with glasses and used plates. Once in the bar, all the bar area was full of empty glasses and it was clear they did not have enough staff. The decor and carpets were tired and dirty and the room that we were eventually put in was dated. It is a shame because the venue has the potential to be so much more
The staff were friendly, the food was excellent, well cooked and plenty of it. It was easy to park. The premises didn't open until 5.00pm but the landlord opened up early to let me in.

Food was really nice but cob webs on the ceiling over the bed.
An amazing traditional pub, with 5 star rooms. Great food and nice atmosphere. Pleasant riverside walk. Already planning my next business trip to this part of country!
We booked the wrong Anglers Arms but we had a great stay! Comfy spacious room with a lovely view of the river, made very welcome by Dave and the locals! Fun quiz on the Friday night with a decent cash prize.
Good food in the evening and a lovely breakfast!
There are two Anglers Arms we deffo picked the right one for us this weekend.
