Ranch House in the Elkhorn Mountains
The renovated Ranch House is perfect as the gathering place for a romantic retreat, or home base while watching wildlife and exploring the Elkhorns. It is part of a 900 acre working cattle ranch that borders National Forest. We are about 25 minutes outside of Helena, Montana, so we are close to town, but secluded in the mountains. There is access to hiking and biking trails minutes away.
The house has 2 bedrooms with double beds and a fold out sofa bed. It has a fully functioning kitchen and a smaller bathroom. There is also a covered porch to take in the mountain views and a fire pit to enjoy the stars of the Big Sky during the evening. Often during the summer, a herd of elk grazes in the hay field right out the back door.
This 100 year old home has been updated and added to slowly throughout the years and has a lot of history to tell. It is great for people with a sense of adventure and don't mind the classics. Although the house is very clean, some wear and tear from being lived and worked in are inevitable. Come and enjoy real Montana ranch living in a mountain oasis.
The ranch house is also the perfect halfway point for travelers visiting Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks looking to keep an authentic Montana feel.

The old farm house is located about seven miles out in the mountains. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. Nice quiet area. Our dog loved running around the yard. Ee had a great time.
This cabin was adorable. It was a little more attached to the ranch than I expected, however the animals added to the charm. My dog and I enjoyed our relaxing stay.

We loved the atmosphere of the property and how beautiful, scerene, and quiet the landscape was. Our kids got to enjoy seeing both farm and wild animals. The home was unique because of it's age and it was fun to stay in an original homestead. You can see the love and care that has been given to preserve this beautiful old home.
We had a great weekend...it's very remote but close enough to town to enjoy other activities. Its an old farmhouse with lots of charm and gets cozy with the wood stove. We'll be back again.

Loved this little ranch house…so rich in history and comfortable. We enjoyed exploring around the farm. We wish we had been able to stay more than one night!!
We loved this place. It's as cozy as a mountain cabin should be. The extra treat was the piano! My husband played and played. Thank you for that! We'll stay there again when we visit Helena.
Our stay at this cozy ranch house had wonderful views. We were able to walk around the property unobstructed. At dusk and dawn, we were able to see the elk that hang around this area.
This house and property is perfect to unwind and relax. It’s tucked away but not too far out of Helena. We loved have a big yard for our two dogs to roam on. The home was clean, cozy and comfortable. The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful! We will definitely be back next time we’re in Helena! Thank you Patti for an amazing stay!
We stayed there to go elk hunting. It turned out to be a centralized location for us to hunt from. There were acres of land around the ranches and connected to the national forest. Also it was a short drive to the WMA on the other side of the range. We will be back if we are lucky enough to draw a tag.

Beautiful home in the Elkhorn Mountains. Great retreat near lots of nature & hiking. Built in the early 1900’s it still has all of its original charm. Full kitchen so I recommend getting groceries in Helena on the way in. Host provides farm fresh eggs!!! There’s a piano for tinkering on and a big bathtub for a nice soak. Great place for dogs too. I love this place. Will definitely revisit when I’m in the area.
Patti and Toms little farmhouse was awwsome. There is so much history there and it was like taking a step back in time. Everything was clean and Patti was very responsive. The views from the yard were wonderful and the dogs enjoyed playing Frisbee there in the evenings. There is no AC at the house but it stayed cool and comfortable even during the hot parts of the day. We saw deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, a badger and lots of chipmunks! We hope to be back soon!
