We really enjoyed the proximity to the causeway and Burlington very much. The cottage was an eclectic decor which was interesting and fun. The part that concerned us a bit was that the bathroom had mold on the ceiling and shower head, and no ventilation in the bathroom. We had to open the window to get the air to vent. Which was on the front lawn. We ran out of toilet paper because there was one roll. The Coffee was available but no sugar or creamer. The powder would have been fine. Also the lawn could have been mowed because with overgrowth comes ticks and such. We the area and outdoors very much.

Overall, my grandson and I had an excellent stay. The host, Albert, was incredibly responsive to every question we had. The check-in instructions were excellent and there was a laminated sheet with instructions for everything we needed to know. The kitchen was well equipped and everything worked. Now, one has to keep in mind that this is a lake cottage not a timeshare resort Villa. So “rustic” would be an appropriate adjective. There’s an air conditioner in the master bedroom and a large split level AC unit in the living room which kept the whole place cool. And the entrance to the Causeway was less than 100 yards from our cabin, making it very easy to get to the bike trail which we spent the better part of two days exploring. One comment, which has been mentioned by other reviewers, is the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom which left it humid such that the bath towels and washcloths didn’t dry. We solve that problem by simply taking the bath towels and hanging them over the railing in the morning and by the time we got back they were dry and odor free. For those looking for a lake cottage getaway with easy access to the bike trail. I highly recommend this property.

Wonderful location

This is a wonderful location near the Causeway and access to the lake while very quiet neighborhood. The property was clean and ready for use. The smaller bedroom has an awkward access to the bathroom limiting privacy. Great for a couple.

A great little cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay

I had a great experience at this property! It was the perfect place to watch the eclipse, and made a a great home base. I was pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was, as far as dining ware and cookware goes. We needed to call Albert to turn up the heat, but he arrived promptly and was very pleasant to interact with. We loved the decor of the place, and would love to return if we find ourselves in the neighborhood again.

Vers nice little place

Well equiped house in a very quiet environment. It is not the most modern house in the life but it was ok. The only negative comment we have is that we were annoyed by the droplets falling from the roof on the air conditionner outside the bedroom (please do something) all night long (it rained a little in the evening). Otherwise it was perfect.

Northern Lights

We had traveled to the area, in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. We read that Mallets Bay was a top location, due to minimal light pollution. It was a dark new moon weekend, but overcast and there didn't seem to be any actual solar activity. There was also much more light pollution than we expected. That said, we enjoyed our weekend in the Burlington area and might return to this property for kayaking & summer activities. It is a -frills home, but was spotlessly clean and comfy. The heater was noisy, so we closed the bed room door. This made the bedroom cool, but the comforter and bed were very comfortable. Our only beef was that the guitar was out of tune and a picture was crooked ;-) . Enjoy!

The location was great. Beautiful lake views, access to the causeway, easy drive to Burlington. It was very quiet. We also had no trouble getting an Uber to and from downtown Burlington one night, even though it's a private and pretty remote area. The host was fantastic - very prompt with all communications and went above and beyond to provide helpful information during my stay.I do think people should know what they are getting - this is an old lakeside cottage. I wasn't expecting a fancy hotel so it was okay that the bathroom was small and outdated - but you can't access the bathroom without entering the second bedroom. I understand that the house is meant to be good for a couple, but if you were intentionally filtering your search for 2 bedrooms because you want that level of separation and privacy for your party, this might not meet your needs. There was also an overpowering musty smell in the house that was unfortunately pretty off-putting and stayed strong throughout our entire stay.Besides the bathroom setup and the smell, our stay was fine in the end but we might not stay again for those reasons. I do want to reiterate how great the location and host were, though. For the right people, this will be a suitable spot for a lovely Vermont getaway.

Not as advertised

Let me start by saying that this cabin is perfectly fine and a very good price. The location is very convenient to the bike trail, although the path to the lake & kayaks is pretty treacherous. They do not charge a “cleaning fee”, so I can forgive the dead bugs in all the windows and the overgrown garden. My major issues with this listing are the inaccuracies. Most importantly, this is NOT a true 2 bedroom. The second bedroom is actually a den with the only access to the only bathroom. They put glass doors (no curtain) on the entry and called it a bedroom. This meant that the “bedroom” had ZERO privacy. For some groups, this would work. It did not work for us. Other mis-advertised Amenities: Washer – actually a laundromat 7 minutes away AC – only in the primary bedroom. Deck/patio – just a fire pit in the grass

Great little spot for some peace and quiet. Easy access to the lake for kayak launching and to the causeway for morning and evening strolls/rides, rapid and effective A/C, comfortable bed, and outrageous decor - we were finding new little pieces of art hidden around the place right up until we were packing up to leave!

This cottage is so gorgeously decorated and was a perfectly located and super comfortable stay for our Burlington getaway. The cottage is easy to walk to the water, which was beautiful. Getting there was easy. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean, and our host Albert was clear and easy to communicate with. We loved this stay and would love to visit again some time!
