The Sun is in an amazing location overlooking the beautiful village of Coniston. It is also a stunning old building, full of character and charm. Tha staff cant do enough for you.

Up the hill - but worth the climb

We really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful location, room was lovely and the staff very attentive. We had a very comfortable night's sleep, and breakfast was high quality, hot, and beautifully presented.

Ideal location and very comfortable

Perfect for a last minute overnight stay in the lakes. Picked as it was the ideal location to the walk we planned. Room was small, but was perfect for what we needed. Very clean, all the required facilities, and the staff were amazing. Breakfast was also delicious.

The only criticism i have is too late for booking in and on a personal note i think 08:30 is a little late for breakfast. Beside that i found the place fantastic. Great accommodation and friendly staff and ideally situated for exploring the lake district.

Lovely little hotel that serves great food and has the friendliest staff you will ever meet. Had a good sized, comfortable room with a lovely view. We’re very dog friendly, even cooking an extra breakfast sausage for her! Would highly recommend, we had a wonderful stay.

A decent place to stay! The room was fine, if a little cold, but the additional heater warmed it up well. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly and I had a lovely pint in the bar. Coniston is well worth a visit and The Sun is definitely worth staying at.

Charming hotel, with a lot of history, with its links to Donald Campbell and Bluebird. Room was cosy and comfy, and staff were so lovely. Really amazing location, with geat views and a fantastic beer terrace. Food was excellent. Could not fault it. Will definitely be staying again.

Great stay. Good location to walk the Old Man of Coniston and visit the Ruskin Museum and village. Parking on site. Lots of choice for breakfast options. Breakfast is available for a short window. Excellent choice of ales on the bar and friendly staff. Would stay again.

Very welcoming staff, friendly, polite, helpful, couldn’t be nicer & the food was great! Bar, was well stocked, comfortable with the outside areas looking very welcoming, great for a summer stay. The room was nicely decorated, but a small double means a small double, the bed felt tiny. If you are booking in get a larger room.

This is the second occasion we have stayed at The Sun, we love it! It is aging and a little rough around the edges, but it’s character runs deep, it’s atmosphere is just lovely and homely. If you like your hotels with character and charm, this is the place for you, if you are after standard, or uniform, or sterile, this is not your place. Really convenient and delicious breakfast, will be staying again for sure!
