  • Beautifully decorated and spacious home with ocean views in our community of Whalehead close to the historic Currituck Beach Lighthouse, village shops and adventure park. This home has over 5700 sq. feet of luxury living featuring a top-level with cathedral ceilings, gleaming hardwood floors and a large, open floor plan with kitchen/dining/living space. This beach getaway features eight large king-master en-suites, and one double pyramid bunk room with private bath, and it's all just 300 yards to the beach! Take in the fresh air and views of the Atlantic Ocean while enjoying the sea breezes as you relax on the many decks of "Summer Winds."

    This lovely vacation home will allow you to relax in your personal Master Suite with outdoor sitting area and spend quality time with your family and friends in the spacious living/dining, rec and media rooms. Enjoy countless hours in the 16 X 32 private pool (heated pool option), or play volleyball, watch a movie in the media room, and unwind in the hot tub.

    You are just a short walk away from the big blue sea and white sand of Whalehead Beach or a short drive to the Currituck Club for a championship round of golf! If you're not a golf pro, enjoy a round of putt-putt golf at the nearby Corolla Golf Adventures, or even test your driving at Bumper Cars. We had a wonderful stay at this beach house! The elevator and close proximity to the beach made it so easy to get around with kids and gear. The home itself was very spacious, with large bedrooms, a great kitchen stocked with plenty of pots, pans, and dishes, and a back deck layout perfect for relaxing. We especially enjoyed the larger pool, and the quick response when the grill ran out of propane was much appreciated. Having sheets and towels provided was also a big convenience.A few small things could make the stay even better: a larger dining table would be ideal for big family dinners (we had to push a few together to make it work), potholders were missing from the kitchen, and the pool does get shaded in the afternoon. It would also be nice to have a bit more silverware and more hooks around the pool area for wet towels.Overall, this was a great house for a family beach getaway—comfortable, spacious, and so close to the ocean. We’d definitely recommend it and would stay again!

Amazing property!

5 families stayed here and enjoyed every minute of our vacation. We had 12 kids, ages 3-10 and the house had plenty of space & appliance’s to meet their needs (high chairs, packNplays, games, puzzles, etc). The bedrooms are all spacious & well furnished. The pool was perfect and well positioned for our group. Short easy walk to the beach as well. Loved the small town located just 1.5 miles away with the best coffee shop & beer garden. 10/10 for our group!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great family vacation. Good location to the beach. Very spacious open area for big group. All the bedrooms were very good size. Only negative was with the cleaning service. Property was missing some linens, one room looked like it was not cleaned at all, and overall house could have been cleaner. However with that said property management responded quickly and rectified linen situation and was more than willing to assist.

Not as expected

The bathrooms were not cleaned well, the pool was dirty, the grill was rancid and there were broken chairs and pool floats thrown over the fence, the sewage pipe was backed up for 3 days - we couldn't use downstairs bathrooms! The property manager was hard to contact and just made excuses. The cleaning fee was returned, but not enough for the trouble we endured. I wouldn't rent off these people again! Keep looking!

Beautiful week in the OBX

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Summer Winds. There was plenty of room for our group. There are a few updates that we would recommend: pool deck could use some cleaning as there were prickly weeds growing in the cracks, deck boards on the second level were loose or raised which could be a tripping hazard, some bathtub/shower faucets were leaky, and the wifi was not powerful enough for all the tv's and devices that were going. I would recommend getting a second router. We had one issue with a bed support breaking but it was addressed and fixed quickly. We have been staying in Corolla for over 15 years and this was one of the better homes we have stayed in. The location was great and the overall experience with the rental company was wonderful. The home was ready and cleaned well before the 4 PM check in time which was great.

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upon check in some safety items were noticed as well as broken appliance. I reported them immediately to the management company. NO response all week long. Outlet cover missing on the kitchen counter was a serious concern to me. We had 2 handicap individuals, the living room furniture was not comfortable for either to sit in. The ice maker was a joke for 20 guests. The internet dropped out 2 or 3 times per day. Two of our rooms were lacking towels (double up on bath rugs). Housekeepibg had gave the house a lick and a promise. We had sand in one of the bath tubs, missing toilet paper holders, one toilet acted like a bidet when flushed. Pool was the highlight of the house.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was notified that the house was ready at 1:47pm but when we arrived the pass code didn't work. When I called the office I found out the code wouldn't work until 4pm. We found hair and grime in a few bathrooms but they sent cleaners right over to take care of it. The pool area was a mess but that was because the previous renters left it a mess. My daughter had hair in her bed. We had to buy a shower liner because one of the bathrooms had just the material curtain. My daughters shower curtain had some mold on it.We loved the layout of the house. The internet was horrid and no ice machines were working. I see in a previous review the rental Co. replied that the owner were looking into getting a ice nachine. I guess they decided against it. Despite a rough start but our family had a great time in the end.

Would have been perfect if only the stove worked!

Reviewer Comments: The main problem we had with this property was that the stove worked VERY POORLY. Took over an hour to boil water. Needed to allow over two hours to prepare dinner as only one of the gas burners provided much heat. We called about this issue early in our stay and then again after several days. A maintenance person was sent out only to inform us that he did not repair appliances. No further action taken by rental company. Also, the ice maker in the kitchen freezer did not work, requiring us to buy ice from the store which then melted slightly on way home and froze in a block. Again, we reported this issue to the rental company but were informed by maintenance that they did not work on appliances.(A recurring theme!) We did buy some ice trays to make some ice, but this could not keep up with the demand. This is a large and beautiful beach house which is made for many visitors - unfortunately, it was difficult to feed those visitors in a timely manner!

Missed one day due to Tropical Storm Ophelia!

The kitchen has one fridge, dishwasher, oven stove and microwave, not enough for large groups. (house could accommodate 22)Dishwasher made a noise that was heard loudly in the bedroom below.The most disappointing thing was the house was generally dirty. One bathroom was not cleaned at all. There was urine stains on the seat, tooth past and hair in the sink. Sliding door on one bedroom was laying on the concrete deck. Outside there was a broken chaise and baby gate. Grill had not drip pan so hardened oils were piled under the grill. There was mold on shower curtains and a blob of mold on the counter near the sink. Rooms with berber rugs were stained and pulled. Dryer did not turn off automatically and the support for one bed in the lowest level broke. What is most disappointing was that many of these issues are noted in prior reviews. The minimum improvement would be to make sure the house is clean!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upon arrival we were unable to access the keypad, but Beach Realty was quick to save the day!! We loved the number of private bathrooms, the pool, hot tub, and the living area. I’d recommend adding to the coffee pot description what size filters would be needed. Over all we really enjoyed our stay, but wish it was a little cleaner.

Great space for a big group

All the well furnished decks were most enjoyable. The beach is a short walk and groceries and shopping are nearby. The furnishings were all in good condition, and overall the house was quite clean, until you looked under the beds🫣.

Some details were overlooked (blankets, not needed, were balled up in the closets. Pot holders are filthy. The gas grill was a disaster (all clean now)). Can not sweet the small stuff.

Great family vacation in Summer Winds August 2024

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Extended family of 14 had a great vacation the last week of August staying in this beautiful home. Other than some slow-moving drains and normal wear you would expect the last week of the season, the house is exactly as you see it in the pictures. The only problem we had was cooking for a large group because the stove top burners were not working properly - took forever to boil water. There is a similar comment from a prior year so hopefully it will be fixed/replaced. The house is now well stocked with ice cube trays we purchased and left in the freezer since there is no ice maker in the house. We have vacationed in OBX for years but this year needed an elevator for our mom and we were relieved that it enabled her to move around the house with ease. We are definitely considering renting this house again next year.

Pool, media room, and volleyball court was perfect for my family! Kitchen was well stocked for our families. We like to cook. Bedrooms were great with king size beds and own bathrooms. The only thing we would have wanted was a long dining room table. Our family likes to all eat together. The elevator was great to have for groceries and family members that recently had surgery. Parking was great. I would recommend this house to family and friends and would definitely rent it again. Friendly customer service! Trey and Megan were especially helpful!

Beautiful week in the OBX

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Summer Winds. There was plenty of room for our group. There are a few updates that we would recommend: pool deck could use some cleaning as there were prickly weeds growing in the cracks, deck boards on the second level were loose or raised which could be a tripping hazard, some bathtub/shower faucets were leaky, and the wifi was not powerful enough for all the tv's and devices that were going. I would recommend getting a second router. We had one issue with a bed support breaking but it was addressed and fixed quickly. We have been staying in Corolla for over 15 years and this was one of the better homes we have stayed in. The location was great and the overall experience with the rental company was wonderful. The home was ready and cleaned well before the 4 PM check in time which was great.

2022 Family Vacation

The house was really good in that it had an elevator and 8 master suites. Plenty of room for all 15 of us. The grill outside was in very rough and dirty shape. We had a lot of issues with ants in the kitchen and some plumbing issues. Several of the doors leading outside either didn't lock or were difficult to open.

Fantastic House
