"The hotel is in two parts separated by narrow cobbled street that has a wonderful bar, pizzeria and gelato shop, all within yards of the front doors. The elevator is a little slow and rather small in each building and the rooms have limited electrical outlets, but they are clean and very well sound proofed. On the roof they have a lovely little outside bar for snacks, drinks and light snacks, run by a charming manager, Francesca. The breakfast is a marvelous part of being at the hotel with lovely fresh fruits, juices, handmade savory items, hot breakfast items and personally made coffees - all a wonderful way to start the day. Maybe best of all, the Smeraldo Hotel is so close to all the major tourist destinations in Rome, and a large Farmers Market, that is open each day only a two minutes walk away. "

"The staff were amazing. The location was strategically perfect around all ancient Rome sites. The shower booth is quite small, so if you are a big guy, that might not be convenient for you. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Many thanjs to the staff and the owner:)"

"We booked the suite but it is not suitable for 4 adults as it has only one bathroom which is inside the master bedroom. The 2 other beds are single beds in the corridor from the entrance to the bedroom. Breakfast at the main hotel is a long walk up 91 steps. Breakfast in the room was very nice. There was a very small table which is only big enough for one person. "

"The self service gorgeous and peaceful roof top bar is an oasis in busy Rome. The rooms are very thoughtfully designed and the mattress quite comfortable. The hotel’s location is a 10 and in a very walkable neighborhood. I highly recommend."
