Dating from 1762, this beautiful stone cottage is full of period features, beamed ceilings and a huge inglenook fireplace. Lovely rural hillside location in a courtyard setting, 2 miles from the main road along a country lane, but only 9 miles from Ruthin. Enjoy the lovely private garden, watch the birds or stargaze at night whilst sharing a bottle of wine in the 'Piggery'. Perfectly placed for all that North Wales has to offer. Great for couples, adventurers, families and dogs. Car essential. The space Within easy reach of all major attractions in North Wales including Snowdonia National Park, The Berwyn mountains and Bounce Below. Pretty market towns of Ruthin, Bala and Llangollen are within half an hour. The stunning coast line of North Wales and Anglesey are within 1 1/2 hours. Lovely period Cottage in a beautiful location - even in the rain 🙂.
We had a great week exploring the area.
The cottage was lovely, had everything we needed. Such a treat to have a dog secure beautiful garden.
The hosts were welcoming and helpful.
Thank you both 🙏
This is a great place to go chill for a while, with many fun areas to hang out. They have it stocked with games of all types. It’s also located within an easy drive to many wonderful sightseeing areas—Snowdonia, Conwy, Chester are all within an hour. The host was very responsive and friendly. Would love to go back.
We only had a very short stay but found the property to be a beautiful old farmhouse with fantastic old features, lovely open fire with plenty of logs and character. Old worn stairs, exposed wooden beams and not a right angle in the place ! Nice and quiet and well out the way. Doggy was very welcome as well.
We have just spent a perfect family weekend at The Farmhouse. The accommodation is lovely; so homely you can easily imagine living here. The garden is beautiful and The Piggery is perfect for a cozy retreat if it turns a bit chilly outside, then transforms into a magical garden room lit by fairy lights when the sun goes down. Jennie and Keith are fabulous hosts - so friendly and full of helpful information on the local area. It felt like meeting up with friends you hadn't seen for a while, rather than talking to the property owners. Our dog also enjoyed the ready-made playmates just next door! The extra little touches (welcome box of nibbles and bottle of fizz for birthday celebrations) just added to the perfect weekend. I can't recommend The Farmhouse enough for a great stay in the countryside. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Absolutely wonderful property in a beautiful secluded location. Had everything we needed and more. Jenni and Keith extremely kind and helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer. Wonderful safe garden for the dogs and fabulous walks
This place is a gem! The location is wonderful, the owners are lovely and the house is very cozy and welcoming. Everything is done with great care and love. We didn't want to leave, we are already planning a next time!
A picture postcard cottage tucked away from the main road absolutely idyllic.
Jennie and Keith were perfect hosts.
I would highly recommend this property if you want a quiet peaceful break and if you want to visit attractions the roads are fairly quiet even in peak times.

This is an amazing little farmhouse cottage in a peaceful location; a rural idyll full of homely comforts and delights, with all the amenities you could want and more (including fast wifi). Denise, the owner, was welcoming and friendly before and during our 4 night stay.
Just be warned, if you are tall; the doorways of this 18th century farmhouse are very low and require careful negotiation :-)
We loved this cottage-the location, the historical details throughout, and especially the huge stone hearth for fires on cold nights. The host was very friendly, met us at check in and provided some welcome supplies/goodies. Highly recommend!
We had a fabulous stay here. The dogs loved the garden and the log fires. The Piggery was very pretty and lit with fairy lights at night. Everything we needed.
An absolutely beautiful, historic cottage in a lovely rural setting. Much better in real life than the photos, each room has a wow factor.
The large country garden with pots of pretty flowers, are all an extension of 'The Farmhouse' that include two summer houses. One for the children, and one for the family where there is a bbq. All this is enclosed and is just for you to use throughout your stay, which helps to make your holiday more relaxed and to enjoy. There is a bird table just outside the gate, that you can fill with food** if you like. You can observe the many graceful birds from the dining room window, using binoculars ** including Woodpeckers which I'd never seen before.
Jennie and Keith, the owners are wonderful, friendly hosts who are there if you need them. They are very likeable people and have two happy dogs. They never encroach in your space/holiday, which was one of our fears when we realised they lived next door. You hardly know they are there, unless of course, you contact them.
On arriving, there was a bowl of goodies and a bottle of wine which was a lovely touch, even tea & coffee was provided! ‘The Farmhouse’ is brimming with little extras that make the holiday extra special and easier.
A welcome book that has information about the wi-fi, surrounding area with directions.** We made use of this a couple of times, to go for a walk and visit a local village. Also, there is a folder full of leaflets/information about North Wales, and places to go, which is very helpful.
The very narrow roads leading up to this gem of a cottage, could sometimes be a little harrowing if another vehicle was coming the other way, as one of you has to reverse into a small recess to allow the other to pass. This was a small price to pay though, for such an idealistic place to stay. We didn’t want to leave! And we’ll be back next year!!

A bit of heaven. A lovely period farmhouse in a stunning setting.
It is set high among hills in lovely countryside. The period features of the farmhouse have been lovingly preserved but it is fully equipped for modern living. It is roomy, comfortable with lovely features like the laden Welsh dresser and the old family photographs and special touches like the vase of flowers on the dining table and the carved wooden napkin rings in a drawer. The garden is extensive and beautifully kept. The owners Jennie and Keith are delightful, helpful and not intrusive. We will surely go again.
Lovely old farmhouse, with all the ammenities for a comfortable stay. A lovely big garden with a summer house so you can appreciate the views to the full. Well worth a stay to explore the surrounding area.
A wonderful stay at The Farmhouse Bryn Halen Mawr.
Thank you for a wonderful stay at The Farmhouse Bryn Halen Mawr.
The cottage is absolutely stunning and set in a wonderful dog friendly and safe garden. Angel enjoyed running about the garden and looking in the bushes, she was definitely in dog heaven that’s for sure!
We loved how the farmhouse was decorated throughout and there was a warm feeling of history with the modern touches too of course.
Also appreciated the bits and pieces left for our convenience such as washing up products and toiletries too.
We cannot wait to return for another holiday!!
Thank you so much Joanna and Alan
Absolutely beautiful cottage ..very clean we had everything we needed very well equipped. The garden and piggery was perfect .
The roads to the house was qwite narrow with some hedges overgrown so we couldn't see traffic with not knowing the roads .
The only tiny little thing was walking my dogs I have crazy dogs who like to go on a good walk. . The roads was so narrow and the gate up to the windmills was always locked throughout our stay .but really it was northing ..
Perfect cottage with Perfect hosting 👌. 10 out of 10
Just returned after a week staying at this property and I have to stay it was an absolute gem of a find. The old farmhouse is full of character and charm with a stunning inglenook fireplace. Everything you need for a relaxing stay is provided. The garden is stunning and the garden room is a real treat . Peaceful location with breathtaking views , and central for all the sights north wales has to offer. Jenni and Keith were perfect hosts , Thankyou for the wine in the fridge and for the delicious strawberries from your garden . Would highly recommend a visit to their farmhouse 😊
If you're looking for relaxation, comfort and scenery, but not too far off the beaten track, this is it. Lovely traditional farmhouse, lovely hosts clearly concerned to ensure you have a fantastic stay and The Piggery! An amazing all weather garden room ideal to eat in, read, play games or just chill and watch the birds and scenery.
