"We recently spent a night in a deluxe room to break up our return journey home from the Hebrides. We love older, quirky hotels and this one is a real gem. Firstly the grounds are stunning and our early morning walk beside the river was a wonderful way to start the day. The hotel itself has lots of character, but don't come here expecting polished perfection. Some areas of the hotel look a little tired and could do with refurbishing, but all the bits that mattered were fabulous and everywhere was clean. Our deluxe room was large, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The dining at the hotel was far better than we'd expected with a wonderful menu and some excellent seafood dishes and decent wine. Service was swift, friendly and unpretentious. Partway through our stay we found out more about the history of the building and it was eye-opening to say the least. I had an extremely strange lucid dream combined with sleep paralysis...or at least that's what I think could explain the laughter of a little girl right beside my bed at 3am and me trying to wake my husband but being unable to move...! Anyway, regardless, we had a fabulous stay, it was good value for money and we'd not hesitate to stay there again."

Hotel is perhaps a little tired and in need of some refurbishment but rooms clean, beds comfortable and good shower, ideal for golf trip accommodation and reasonably priced. Only thing to watch out for is my room was next to the kitchen extractor fan that comes on at 7am so don’t expect a lie in if you are in room 6"

"The hotel is delightfully old school. Table cloths in the large dining room and carpeted floors making for a peaceful atmosphere where one could be heard. The balcony in our spacious bedroom was a joy from where we were able to occasionally see red deer. The staff were enormously helpful in moving luggage - there are no lifts. All in all a delightful experience."

We enjoyed a pleasant drink on the lovely patio overlooking the river followed by a tasty meal in the bar. Breakfast was excellent . Our room was fairly basic with quite a small ensuite . The WiFi was good. We were pleased with our stay which represented good value."

"We really enjoyed our stay in the Art Bank, Mandy made us feel very welcome, and her brilliant breakfasts set us up for the day. The Art Bank is very well named, we loved the range of art work on display, and the artistically themed rooms. We stayed in the Monet room, which was comfortable and peaceful. We didn't mind the shared bathroom, we never had any issues sharing it with the other guest, and even managed a relaxing bath. We appreciated all the little touches, and having access to a fridge and microwave. We would be very happy to stay here again, and we may invite some friends to join us next time."
