An old property located just on the shoreline at the most central place possible. Both staff members i came across were exceptionally nice and accommodating.
Basic, clean & comfortable. Good for the low price.

Staff were lovely and the room had a couple of extra touches I wasn’t expecting like bottles of water. The only thing that I would say tainted the stay was that I couldn’t turn the heating off in the room and with the room being small and at the top of the building, it was so, so hot. Other than that, great.

I stayed for one night i would come back again and everything nearby +the seafront
Walking the SW Path we stayed here overnight. The rooms were basic but did the job and were reasonably priced. It’s no frills but it doesn’t claim to be
The single room was an attic room with an apex ceiling only 5 foot 10 inches high.
One velux window covered with a filthy curtain frayed at the edges, no sink or any other facility in the room, the shared bathroom was two seperat w..c's and a shower room one floor down. There was inadequate hand holds on the final staircase which made it very difficult for an 80 year d to manage especially with luggage.
Room was unfortunately grubby upon arrival, room was dusty, the bedding had clearly been used (hairs and stains on the bedding). This was brought to the attention of the landlord who didnt apologise but did offer to change the bedding when we went out. When we returned the bedding had not been changed, but a bag with fresher sheets had been placed outside the door.
Another thing to note was that the milks supplied with the tea and coffee were mostly >1 month expired.
The bed was thankfully comfortable, but overall the lack of cleanliness was concerning, especially at £70 for one night.
Like the house of horrors room smelt very damp could not open window bed was down to its springs toilets ran out of paper toilet would not flush food was packet food cooked in microwave not a place i would recommend

Railway Inn, Dawlish
On booking I opted for paying at Railway Inn, but on arrival I was advised that payment had to be in cash not card, even though the Railway Inn took card payments in the bar. I asked for a receipt, which wasn’t available straight away, but rec’d the night before departure
We visited The Railway Inn to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and found the room we stayed in had been refurbished and very clean.
The shared shower and 2 WCs was not a problem.
Tracy and Gary made us feel very welcome and despite the pub being closed (covid) it looked very inviting and cant wait to August as we have booked 4 days for my 66th birthday celebration.

We knew and expected cheap and cheerful but this had no cheer. Room very basic but clean was a no (left over clothes from previous occupier) and for shared toilet/bathroom this was disgusting. We couldn't wait to leave so we could find somewhere clean. Again this may have been cheep for dawlish however for the price we paid the night before and the night after for rooms I can only rate this is bad.

The hotel was average , the hosts were very helpful and went out of there way to help us however the place could do with a bit of TLC . It served a purpose and was relativly cheap compared to other accomadation in the area and i would stay there again .
We booked this stay late, only the day before. We know Dawlish very well, yet it took a while to find as its up a dead end street with no car access. My husband stayed in the car while I went into the Inn. The lady was very helpful and apologetic, but there was no parking. She said the people running the Bar were not the owners and had nothing to do with the accommodation side. We were shown to our room. I know this is a old Building but it was in very bad condition, the window wouldn't open and the room was very hot and stuffy. The carpet was awful, bed very old and uncomfortable with very old faded bedding. There was no TV, the wall paper was bubbling and dirty. The communal shower is old, dirty and covered in cobwebs. the communal toilets are very small, cramped, dirty and the flushes are useless. It is very noisy up stairs. the communal lighting is bad. We stayed for 3 nights and I dreaded each one of them.
The bar on the other hand was ran by very nice helpful people who chatted to us every night. The Owners of this place DO NOT Advertise this property accurately.
Verry Noizy outside my window smoking verry bad language from 4:30 to10:30pm doors banging every 5 to 10mins. Bed clean it's a family run husband wife and grandson. Ok
