About this property

"Robins Nest" Off Grid Solar Powered Eco Cabin

  • Escape to Robin’s Nest, a cozy off-grid eco cabin tucked into the woods at the base of Pleasant Mountain in Denmark, Maine. Inspired by Thoreau’s one-room cabin, it’s a peaceful place to unplug, read, write, create, explore, or simply slow down.

The cabin has solar power but no Wi-Fi or running water. We provide fresh well water in jugs, and a warm shower and water refill station are about a 5-minute walk away. A composting toilet is located about 50 yards from the cabin. Please note, it is a 5 minute inclinated walk to get to the cabins, no cars are allowed.

Inside, you’ll find a full-size bed and handcrafted twin bunk beds, a two-burner propane stove, basic cookware and dishes, locally roasted coffee and tea, an ice chest for food storage, and a wood stove with plenty of firewood for heating. Please bring your own linens, towels, pillows, and ice. In colder months, we recommend a 20°F-rated sleeping bag.

Outside, enjoy a small porch, hammock, picnic table, fire ring, and private hiking trails across our 33 wooded acres. The property features a spring-fed mountain brook, dipping and soaking pools, and beautiful views toward Mount Washington and the White Mountains. We border protected Nature Conservancy and Loon Echo Land Trust lands.

Robin’s Nest is family-friendly, and children 8 and under stay free. Please let us know how many guests are coming so we can prepare the space accordingly.

We use a self-check-in system and recommend first-time guests arrive before dark, as outdoor lighting is minimal. Bring a flashlight or headlamp.

Depending on availability, you may also be able to add a private wood-fired sauna session to your stay. It is $95 for a private sauna.

    Amenities:

    Solar power (no Wi-Fi)

Full bed + twin bunk beds

    Wood stove and indoor firewood

    Two-burner propane cooking stove

    Cookware, dishes and utensils

Coffee, tea, French press and grinder

    Fresh well water

Ice chest (bring your own ice)

    Nearby composting toilet

Warm shower about a 5-minute walk away

    Private hiking trails

Porch, hammock, picnic table and fire ring

    Optional private wood-fired sauna

A few things to know: There is no bathroom or running water inside the cabin. Please bring your own linens, towels and pillows. Mosquitoes and black flies are typically most active between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, so repellent is recommended.

Robin’s Nest feels wonderfully remote while still being within easy reach of nearby villages for groceries, ice, dining, farmers markets and supplies. Come for the quiet, the mountains, the brook, the stars and a chance to experience life at a slower pace.
