Tucked away in a tiny village, this hotel is a true escape where the only sounds you hear are those of nature. It’s the perfect place to unwind and recover from the fatigue of high-altitude travel—peaceful, refreshing, and deeply calming.
The property itself is expansive, set on beautiful grounds with a flowing river and a scenic lawn. I stayed in a stunning two-story detached Tibetan-style cottage, beautifully designed with an eye for detail and cultural authenticity—it was both luxurious and inspiring.
The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming. One of the highlights of my stay was the meaningful conversations I had with them; they shared fascinating insights about local religion and traditions, adding a rich cultural layer to the experience.
A truly special stay that nourishes both body and spirit.
The most beautiful place we have ever been: a well designed Tibetan style cottages overlooking the vast river valley grasslands with surrounding snowy mountains in the distance. The sound of the cowbell and wind blowing over the trees is most soothing. The staff are so friendly and helpful, especially Doima, the manager, who help us arranged the day tours and even our luggage storage in town after our check out. We are also very impressed with Banyan’s policy in observing the environments and their detailed design in promoting the local culture history in their cottages. Thank you, Banyan RINGHA.

Our experience at Banyan Tree Ringha was exceptional from start to finish. We were welcomed with warming ginger tea and an efficient check-in. Our room was huge, with authentic interior design that reflected the local region. We stayed in a spa room, so had a separate area for treatments, along with the most stylish bath tub I've ever seen - just what tired legs needed after a day of hiking! We also treated ourselves to a spa treatment, which was hands down the best massage I've ever had. The therapists are extremely knowledgeable and provide an exceptional spa experience. Location-wise, the hotel is in a quiet village, next to a stunning river and surrounded by open countryside. It's about a 20 minute drive in ShangriLa, but we spent the whole time enjoying the nearby walks. But like all truly exceptional hotels, what really sets it apart is the staff. They provide a warm, genuinely welcoming service, and are constantly thinking about how to make your stay even better. They even arranged a special birthday dinner with a local Tibetan family, so we could learn more about the culture and experience authentic cuisine. It was so much fun! And the food was delicious... Can't wait to come back!
Good hotel but the condition is NOT comparison with other Banyan Tree. The room is too big and sometimes this is NOT a good thing. The fire place doesn't work and room is clod. The services are good and all staff are very friendly.
Although it is a little bit further away and the road was not completely paved, Banyan Tree Ringha has the most friendly staff I have ever encountered. They made the discomfort of adjusting to higher attitude much bearable. The rooms are big and clean with lots of local flair. The meals are delicious but a little pricy. I would totally come back again.
The room was beyond my expectations, especially for the money. The setting was peaceful and serene, and worth checking out. But the staff was not trained to support a high class experience that I come to expect from the Banyan Tree. I don't blame the individuals, as it was clear they lacked any sort of professional training. Dinner was a bad experience, breakfast not much better.
The Hotel is beautiful and a worthwhile experience. Be aware that the bathroom is in the lower floor with steep stairs. Some rooms are very far from the entrance, restaurant and lobby, and while there is a boogie service, it is inconvenient. The road to the hotel is a disaster. It is in such bad shape (September 2012) that the drive is very slow. The location is far from town, add this to the bad road and it becomes slower. The hotel appeared to be understaffed. At times they would not answer the phone and service in the restaurants was slow. Every staff member is eager to please, but during my stay they were few and busy with the few guests. These rooms are not for Sr. Citizens. Nonetheless the beauty of the hotel and place trumps the above issues.
The location is truly stunning and with friendly and knowledeagble staff it makes for a great all round experience. The tour guide 'Sonam' is particularly helpful. Fluent in English and well-versed in local and Buddhist knowledge she is a charming guide and wonderful with kids.
They have a great spa too and we left our kid sin the lobby with some of the staff whilst we chilled out. Given the unique structure and general warmth of the people they had more fun than with us!
