Welcome to The Hollies
This detached house in a Derbyshire village has the best of both worlds! Canal side walks and a local pub a short stroll away but with easy access to Derby, Nottingham & the Peak District. Plus lots of great family attractions such as Alton Towers, Twycross Zoo, The Heights of Abraham and the Sudbury Museum of Childhood. Just 15 minutes drive to Donnington Park for any motor sport fans! Perfect for families or small groups of friends.

Relax in the spacious lounge with log burner, comfortable sofa and beanbags, perfect for snuggling up in. We provide logs, kindling and firelighters so you can feel at home as soon as you shut the front door.

Our well equipped kitchen includes a range cooker, microwave, coffee machine & dishwasher. It's a lovely social space to cook in. Adjacent to the kitchen is the light and airy conservatory dinning room which has seating for 6 & direct access to the garden. For our younger guests we have a highchair and child friendly tableware.

The snug is a further seating area with sofa just off the kitchen. This has lots of books & games for children and adults. There's even a guitar for the budding Taylor Swift! Our guests tell us that this one of their favourite spaces in the house.

Fully enclosed garden with outdoor furniture & a glass bbq. Small lawn for playing or relaxing with a selection of games for all ages.

The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and ensuite shower room. The second bedroom also has a king sized bed and shares a family bathroom with the bunk room. There is also a downstairs loo.

The third bedroom has bunkbeds, these are full sized, suitable for children or adults. For safety reasons we advise that children under 6 should not sleep in the top bunk.

A travel cot is available for the little ones (up to Age 3). Just let us know which bedroom you would like it setting up in.

Guest should be aware that The Hollies is a non-smoking house. We ask that all guests respect our rule and do not smoke or vape anywhere in the house or garden, thanks!

Spacious home in the heart of England

Our family of four appreciated the space! We enjoyed the game shelf, the goodies left for us, the comfy beds, the nearby park and the lovely pub. This is a great spot for families.

Perfect winter break

A great weekend staying in this lovely home. Some great touches such as the children's books and games, they were very useful to help keep the little ones entertained! Lovely area and great local walks and amenities, pub and shop 5 mins away. Hopefully we will return!

Long weekend away

Fantastic house and easy walking distance to The Coopers Arms which we visited everyday! Walking along the canal was lovely, our trip to Leicester was east from here and we were also able to head off to Donnington Race Track to watch some motor racing on Sunday. Brilliant fun - we will definitely be back

Very Comfortable House

I have always wanted a conservatory, and this one was lovely. We had a very enjoyable stay in spite of a flat tire on our rental car. It gave us more time to explore the neighborhood including the horses and sheep and the canal.

Lovely stay

We had a lovely short stay in January. Nice house, very clean. Milk/tea bags and a few treats were much appreciated. Good location. No problem at all with noise as per another review - could hardly hear trains/planes, which were infrequent. Made good use of wood burner (thank you). TV was a little frustrating - no live TV (though could use iPlayer, ITVX etc.). Bunk bed spring mattress also uncomfortable. But everything else was lovely and hosts communicated well. Highly recommend.

Lovely clean property with plenty of space

A nice base for our family for a few nights over half term, visiting Alton towers, Calke Abbey and the National memorial arboretum. Lots of games and books to keep the children entertained and plenty of room for everyone. Even a guitar for my daughter to practice on. There house looked newly decorated with lovely bathrooms and a nice big kitchen to cook in. The only slight downside was the noise from planes and trains at night so I’d say bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. Otherwise spot on.

Long family weekend

The property was excellent and just what we needed for a long family weekend and meet up. There was everything we needed and access from M1 was quick. We had lovely walks along the canal and back through the village. Thanks will definitely stay again if we are in the area.
