Property is in a great location if visiting Shasta or surrounding parks. But, the furniture and appliances were dirty and outdated. The floors and kitchen were pretty dirty and gross. The fridge was loud and the outside was dirty. Tap water from the kitchen was metallic and undrinkable probably because of the pipes.
Host communication was quick and great.
The trip was great because the hikes and beauty around were wonderful.
But I’m not sure I would stay here again.
I knew the train would be loud based on other reviews. But it was so loud as it’s only about a block away and runs ALL the time even honking throughout the night.
The house was perfect for our families weekend ski trip. Very clean and comfy bedroom and living, kitchen was great. Didn't know there was a train running all night.
The home itself is cute and clean. The neighborhood was questionable. The house which was only a few feet away could see into the bathroom clearly. No privacy. There were no window coverings in the bathroom, and it was a clear view from house to house. I covered it as best I could with paper towel rolls. The light was out in the bathroom. The kitchen had an ant infestation. The small window air conditioner did not cool the bedroom at the back of the house. The train that went by blew its horn several times a night. The neighbors large dog barked all the time and they screamed "shut the F... up" a lot. Also, the neighbors hung out on the front deck with loud music and foul language. I would not choose this particular VRBO again based on location.
The home was very clean and the grounds were nice also. The kitchen was stocked with the basics and there were plenty of linens. A good place to stay close to a lot of places.
We really enjoyed our stay in Dunsmuir - this place was comfortable and had everything we needed. The only issue was the noise of the train at random hours of the night, this made our sleep a little less restful than we had been hoping for. It's likely a problem anywhere in Dunsmuir - the train is loud and echos throughout the valley. It seemed like there were 1-3 trains per night.
